skippy, you confuse me. i'm not gonna try to guess your age, but you're probably younger than i am and probably didn't watch LSU football before 2000. you sound like a new LSU fan that only knows SEC and nat'l championships. so let me say this: yes a rebuilding year. yes, this team has talent, but we lost to two preseason ranked top 5 teams with a green QB and a defense playing below their abilities. i'm not even arguing with some of your points that i agree with but you CANNOT expect a nat'l championship every year. i'm trying to save you some disappointment in the future. think about how good UGA was last year. they didn't even win their division. LSU and UGA have the best SEC records since 2000. UGA lost to tenn. horribly last year and yet all of their fans didn't jump off bridges. i know this team has talent. college football is more than recruiting talent (you hear that bama fans!!??) you actually have to develop that talent and some positions require more experience than others. some running backs and wide receivers can come in as true freshmen and excel. but you rarely see true freshman QB's or centers or free safeties or MLB's come in and set the world on fire. this is a rebuilding year on an even year schedule, and if you're one of those fans who picked us to go undefeated or lose one or two games this year then i'm not quite sure what to tell you except your expectations are too high.
I live in Memphis, and believe me no one wants to hear me cry a year after winning a NC and claiming a 9-3 or 8-4 sucks. Most SEC teams would kill just to be ranked again! We are in a rebuilding year where we are green in key areas, and obviously are dealing with a failed DC experiment. If you think otherwise, you obviously need some perspective, IMO. :geaux:
Florida last year, a year after its MNC, finished 9 - 4 losing to Michigan in the bowl game. Its next to impossible to stay at the absolute top in the SEC, there's just too much talent and coaching. LSU will be back on top and this season isn't over yet.
I don't know if I have told any of you this, but I absolutely LOVE "I told you so" threads.... They are just the best kind of threads... In fact. I am going to say we are going to beat Tulane this weekend, and I will resurrect this threads on Monday if we do in fact win.
