Isn't it their job to A.) Recruit said "effective" QB's and 2.) Develop those recruited QB's in to effective QB's?
I wonder if someone who is much more knowledgeable than I am regarding LSU's recruiting history can help me with something. We know what we've gotten out of the QB's LSU has recruited and signed in the last 10 years or so. But does anyone have a list of all of the top QB prospects we recruited seriously and offered scholarships to but didn't manage to sign and how they ended up performing at the various schools they went to? I wonder how the talented QB's who didn't come to LSU fared elsewhere. I can think of some that were successful and some who weren't. Here are LSU signees at QB since 2005 from rivals.com. I'm sure I'm missing some so feel free to correct me. 05 Ryan Perrilloux 5 star dual threat 07 Jarett Lee 4 star pocket passer 08 Jordan Jefferson 4 star dual threat 09 Chris Garrett 3 star pocket passer 09 Russell Sheppard 5 star dual threat 10 Zach Lee 4 star pocket passer 11 Zach Mettenberger 5 star pocket passer 11 Jerrard Randall 4 star dual threat 11 Steven Rivers 3 star pocket passer 12 Jeremy Liggins 3 star dual threat 13 Hayden Rettig 4 star pocket passer 13 Anthony Jennings 4 star dual thread 14 Brandon Harris 4 star dual thread
Yes. They have consistently recruited 4 and 5 star quarterbacks. But Perrilloux being a dumbass and Zach Lee opting for baseball did not help. Shouldn't this be "B"? Yes. They have to develop them into effective quarterbacks. No, it hasn't worked out well. So, Les replaced two offensive coordinators and quarterback coaches who underperformed at this. Cameron has had one great year with an experienced quarterback and one poor year with inexperienced quarterbacks. He either develops Harris into an SEC-caliber quarterback next year or Les may have to make another change.
As long as Miles gets a man crush(only reason I can see why Jennings gets all the reps) on the "starter" whether he is worth a shit or not we will not have one! Seriously would you come here as a QB and know you get no chance for the next 2 yrs while Miles blows Jennings flute even though my 13yr old daughter can throw a better ball. Off my soap box for now.
Not this year, but next. Felipe Franks has committed, but the guy they really want is Shea Patterson from S'port (NC caliber QB, yeah really). Will they get them both. Probably not. Will Patterson sign with LSU along with Franks. Probably not. Do they run Franks off to get Patterson? What if they do and still don't get Patterson?. A delicate situation, but that's next year. Stay tuned. https://rivals.yahoo.com/lsu/football/recruiting/commitments/2016/LSU-76
Patterson might scare off Franks but Franks won/t scare off Patterson. Seems to me though we've gotten our best QB recruits in pairs before so maybe we will again next year.
