Les Miles debacle, Gary Crowton's sputtering offense, Akiem Hicks saga, the losses of our top recruits like Justin Hunter, Mike Davis & Cassius Marsh, our record against SEC powerhouses the past couple of years......

I know alot of you will say things like, "everyone always loses recruits" and "screw Akiem Hicks" and "We'll be fine..." but I'm starting to wonder if the wheels are starting to fall off of this thing.

I've, at times, been called a sunshine pumper and I've also been called a flamer once or twice. This thread isn't inteded to piss anyone off, but to start a serious discussion on the status of our program.

I gotta be honest with you, it's starting to look like my Gump friends are right.....the wheels may be falling off of this thing. Something needs to be done.....and fast.

no way to know. sometimes 8-5 seasons are just valleys and sometimes they are cliffs. lets see what happens with an experienced QB. there is much reason to be optimistic because recruiting is strong and the team competed well in the losses.

In a word, no. While we didn't win a championship last season, we did improve from 9-4. Numerous teams would love to trade that record with us. Les Miles is a very good coach. That doesn't mean he's the best, but he's done very well with his time here. I think we can still win championships, but it isn't going to be on a repeating basis.

-Look at Alabama. They won their first championship this year in over ten years.
-Florida's won two in the 2000's, 2006 and 2008. The last one they won was in 1996.
-Tennessee won one in 1998, five before that in school history. That's great, but look how long those crystal balls are stretched out.
    -Georgia- 1942, 1980

That's how we stand up to the traiditional powerhouses. It takes time to build championship teams, and they rarely repeat.

While we're not where a lot of people want us to be, we can't be on top of the world all of the time. The game is too competitive to let that happen. However, I think it is not unreasonable to build a team that consistently is in the top 10 or top 15, always posing a serious run for the championship. If we get that back, I think a lot of the negatigers will go away.

The wheels will fall off once we return to the Curly Hallman days.:geaux:

No. The wheels are falling off of unreasonable expectations.

cs, my friend, my advice to you is simple......

    quit listening to freakin gumps!!!

they are arrogant pricks who think they are entitled to it all, and want to bring down those around them that dont share their beliefs. think of them as redneck islamists.

we may have hit some bumps, but the wheels are still on.

Well, my good gump buddy Marty emailed me a link to an Akiem Hicks story and titled the email "The Wheels Are Falling Off".

I replied to him that no, they aren't falling off and told him why I thought that.

Then I wake up this morning and see where someone posted that we did, in fact, lose Cassius Marsh. My knee-jerk reaction was "holy shiit....was Marty right?" so that's the reason for me starting this thread. I wanted to hear what you guys thought.

No, and I think Miles is smart enough to know that this season is going to have to be better (not going 0-3 against Ole Miss, bama, Fla)

No one was happy with the last 2 years after the previous 5, but we really aren't far off. The difference between the SEC championship game and 9-4 is razor thin.

The wheels coming off is what happened with Archer, Hallman, Kemosabe.

as far as marsh, i havent read, i dont know what the story is. but if we end u to 10 recruiting and have some great pick ups, id say we are still on track. if we see recruits leaving en masse or not committing at all, then i will be worried.

but as far as hicks, look at the opposite side. yes, we had an assistant that it appears my have played dirty. but, unlike some programs that would embrace it or sweep it under the rug, it appears when miles and the admin found out, it was quietly handled in a way that resulted with mccarthy gone and hicks gone. i believe the taking care of it was in the works when the reveille got hold of it. if i remember right, mccarthy had already had his recruiting duties taken away and was on his way out the door. that is a bump. accepting his actions would have been the wheels falling off.

like i said, quit listening to the redneck terrorists and your world will be much better. go to the bash in a couple of weeks and get a healthy dose of purple and gold.

With all do respect, you should be ashamed of yourself. You let the pickle kissing gumps around you bring you to this state of mind? Wow, exactly what they like to see. A LSU fan talking about the wheels coming off the program. I suggest you delete your thread while there is still some hope of salvaging a shred of your dignity.

The only reason why I would even think about putting a maybe up on this thing is what has happened to our latest recruiting class. It sounds like we are loosing some commitments and what really struck me was that we had several of our big time commitments from previous years transfer, ect. That tells me that the kids are getting tired of riding the bench for 3 years until they see the feild even though they might be the best at that specific position. Again this is the one thing that has frustrated me since day one with Miles. I understand loyalty to your senior players but if there is a frosh that is that good (russel sheppard) that can make an impact immediately, for the love of God play him!!!! I also think we are beginning to see Crowton's inept offense production hurt us in this recruiting class. Now having said that if we pick up Trevon Reed, and Lache Seastruck then I will be the first one to change my mind on the wheels getting a little shaky on this thing. :tigereye:
