Honestly, I laughed at your thread. Battle tested...we beat 3 top 25 teams in our first 4 games and 4 overall. Granted we have won the games by a wide margin but I'm not sure this team will panic regardless of the situation. Let's take care of biz this week then we have 2 weeks to talk about THAT game.
Are we battle tested? Oregon was rated #3, ranked ahead of LSU which was #4, and a 3 point favorite. After we hammered them they've killed everyone else they've played. West Virginia was playing LSU in front of a jacked up home crowd and had the revenge motive going for them. Tennessee had 100,000 plus home fans for a conference game, the revenge motive, and wanting to beat the #1 ranked team in the country. Mississippi State was playing on national television at home with no other games competing for the TV audience. They were also motivated to stop a ten game losing streak against LSU. The fact that we manhandled all these teams merely means that we've passed these tests with flying colors. The big test obviously is on Nov. 5 against the Gumps. LSU always plays well in Tuscaloosa and I feel we will win again this year. However, I hate the scheduling of Arky on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The students are home for the holiday break, it's a short prep week, and with our higher ranking Arky always points to this game with more motivation than we do. I know we are a better team than Arky. I just don't want a repeat of 2007. Arky outplayed LSU and won 50-48 in overtime and seemingly denied us a BCS berth. My dipstick stepson in law was at my home watching that game and clapped for the piggies as the game ended. I haven't forgotten nor forgiven that azzhole since. :tigereye:
Now that's just unforgivable. I hope you watched this past years Sugar Bowl with him and wore a red sweater vest.
This! Lee has been tested in crunch time last year. Not so much this year. And not to look ahead, but McCarron has not. You know Chavis will bring pressure, esp at the end, to force mistakes. Im hoping that will be the difference in the game.
He's a Gamechicken fan actually. His two favorite teams are the Gamechickens and whomever is playing LSU. My two favorite teams are LSU and whomever is playing the Gumps. It started when the Gumps had the 30 year unbeaten streak against us in Death Valley, and intensified when Satan whored out and came back to coach in the SEC West after LSU treated him so well and he left. I despise "suitcase coaches". You know, the Lou Holtz, Bobby Petrino, Nick Saban types. That's why CLM has become my favorite all time LSU football coach. He didn't bolt like Paul Dietzel and Nick Saban did after winning a national championship at LSU, even when his alma mater called twice. Thanks, Les.
I don’t think that there is an un-beaten team in the country that has accomplished what LSU has this season. Hence the #1 ranking. I personally do not care about whether or not we are "battle tested" or what that does or doesn’t do for us against Bama. We will go in and play Bama with our game plan which is proven, and we may or may not be the better team, and we may or may not win the game. Same for Auburn, Ole Miss, WKU, Arky, SECCG (If Applicable) and our Bowl game.
