They opened with a professional fluffer. They were almost beaten by Marshall (and please save the "he knew our plays" crap - how'd that keep the Eer defense from stopping Marshall's offense in the first half?) And they had a pedestrian appearance against one of the worst defenses in the nation? I'm not saying LSU definitely stomps this team - but WVU (like all Big East teams) is a bottom half SEC team AT BEST. West Virginia is not in the Top 20 (at 3-0) for reason. If Jefferson has a REASONABLE outing, this thing gets (and stays) ugly for the visitors.
I think both teams are about in the same boat. WVU could be asking those very same questions about us. Both will have something to prove this weekend. I think the loser's season is in question and the winner could have a really good season. I go agree if JJ gets on track, this will most likely get ugly and quick. We could put up 45 easily if that happens. That's a huge IF. WVU will get their points, however. Let's not underestimate this dangerous offense. I think the score we are looking to top is 20 points. That's about what I see WVU scoring on us.
I think we win convincingly....if we eliminate the running into the kickers, the holding, and block in the backs that have helped keep our opposition in the game, then it may be even better. I don't see 20 from WVU. I don't think they are 13 points better than MSU. My guess is 17 or so. I
Is it just me or is the 3-3-5 a open invention to run it up the gut? Miles gonna have a good time and so will our backs. By far the weekday d line we have faced so far.
Seems like all the Eers around here keep throwing around how they have beaten SEC teams in recent history, but they're conveniently omitting the fact that those wins occurred with Rich Rod & Pat White. No one is naive enough to believe that this is the same program as when those two were around. I watched the majority of the Marshall game, and WVU's Oline got pushed around bigtime. If that performance is any indication, our DL is going to cause some serious, serious problems for them. My biggest concern is our pass defense. Sure, we've had some big plays and picks, but we've not been terribly effective vs the pass outside of that. Russell came in Saturday night and threw it pretty much at will until we got in his face. Seems like we've had some trouble in coverage, which doesn't really add up when you consider the ludicrous amount of speed our defensive backfield has collectively.
I like the fact its in Tiger Stadium that gives me much more comfort. However, Geno Smith & Devine can make big plays, so we will need consistent pressure up front from our D-LINE to help cause problems. If we cause mayham for the WVU Offense we have the opportunity to control this game & its a long night for the NEERS. On Offense Id like to see our big hog molly's get the push and get the running game going early. Run the ball right down their throat with a combo of Blue & Ridley - Little Thunder & Lightning. I want to see a little more of JJ on the roll out, and GC/LM cut out the option crap and bring back a screen pass to Shep into our playbook. Down field, I like the matchup of our WR’s vs. WVU secondary….I think we will move the football much better through the air than we do/will against SEC teams, Let T2 & R2 expose the secondary of WVU, and TT get his 1st TD reception of the season. He is due for a break out game.... That’s what makes LSU so SCARY.....nobody has seen our weapons at their best yet! – Some of them are seriously overdue for BIG GAMES If we jump out early, we have to put this baby to bed, because if we let WVU hang around they have the playmaking ability to score quick. With the lack of offense we have shown to the press, and all the hate around the nation towards our program, I wouldn’t be surprised to see College Game day having LSU on Upset Alert this weekend.
My first post. Think we are over rated you better hope so, a win for either team is going to boost the other. Do you think you would climb any higher in the polls without us being "over-rated"? I wish LSU was ranked higher. I think both teams are getting screwed by the polls. But none the less it will make good TV for ESPN . They will build this game up by the weekend just to boost tv ratings. I think it will be a great game this weekend and I love going into a game the underdog. Saturday night will be fun and Im looking forward to coming to Baton Rouge with my brother. We hope to walk thru some tailgates and meet some tiger fans. And after all is said and done regardless of who wins I can guarantee you it will be a good game.
unfortunately your team is in the Big East. Being the best team in the Big East is like being the smartest retard in class, yeah its great, but it still sucks. I hope West Virginia isn't over rated, and i hope they are a great team, we need a nice test before the meat of the SEC schedule hits.
