over brick and chavis? probably not but its a lot closer than simply steele. because word on bhelm street may be this is happening. id give les a pass if this goes down.
After the 2011 debacle and the annual qb nightmare les doesn't get anymore passes. Neither does the offense....
Hey, I'm all about calling Les out when his decisions are questionable, and I fully agree that the passing game has been usually awful under Miles, but I'd be interested to see Orgeron added to the staff. Still concerned about Steele, but Miles is cap'n of this ship, just hope he don't run her full aground before abandoning or before the crew mutinies.
So lsu gets two recruiters and better coaching for the d-line? And this is close to being equivalent to chavis? Nah I don't see it.
What two recruiters and what better D line coaching? We just got one half of a recruiter and an LB coach.
No way Steele is close to being the equivalent, much less surpassing Chavis. His track record does not at all dictate him being offered the LSU DC position. I hope he and Miles prove us all wrong, but I just don't see it. You would think that a coach who appears on the downside of his tenure would really try his best to make a big hire. Miles must produce better than he recently has. Fact is Steele does not have the reputation as a big time DC. Miles would have done better offering Pendergast. Yeah he isn't a SEC guy but he has a history of production. He has a history of bringing in big time talent and molding them. There is a lot going on behind the scenes. I have a feeling that a lot of coaches wanted to stay away from LSU. No way does a program with the recent success LSU has had should have to settle with a DC who has no history of production. If you can't get the coach you want then why settle? I would much rather Coach O. He has a proven track record. Plus he is as good a recruiter as there is out there. Or at the least promote Haley. I think Coach O is certainly an upgrade from Haley. However no position coach is enough of an upgrade to make up the chasm between Chavis and Steele.
