Sounds like it’s basically done. If he leaves or coaches with disinterest prior to the playoff, I’ll never forgive him. But what candidates do we have for replacing him? Looks like we’re gonna need a 3-4 guy to use all the pieces we have right now.
Makes no sense that a coach would want to miss a chance at the playoffs and a National Championship, I have to think that if this is real its after the play offs.
I fully expect him to coach through the playoffs. Lots of down time for schools after next week in recruiting. Most players are now signed in the early signing period (this year is Dec 18-20). So that's over with next Friday. He'll have time after Jan. 13th to get back into the recruiting cycle for the early February regular NSD. Coaching hires will be his other concern. Don't know the timeline of how fast he'd want that to happen, but it definitely will overlap with the playoffs.
UNLV makes zero sense to me but maybe there is some sort of family ties there. Made him an offer he cant refuse. He strikes me as a Chris Petersen type. Never really clamoring for the public attention that HC position would require.
