i turned 32 yesterday and i was born into a LSU family. Some of my earliest memories were tailgating when i was a kid. I used to always want to go play on the "mounds" on campus and get a long look at the Golden Girls. I remember how amazing i thought my grandpa was because he would always have his big cooker out doing some gumbo, and he would always take me around to other tailgates and just strike up conversation with anyone and everyone (i wanted to be him so bad). I was there during the bad times (football wise) but it was always a GOOD time outside the stadium even when we lost. I think we as a fanbase, especially me have been spoiled this last decade and it really sucks to falter just a little bit, because those of us who were there for the 83 and 89 season, the 90 season and then the Curly Hallman depression, then the Dinardo collapse, just dont want to see it our program do a Miami, or a Notre Dame. You know its a catch 22, it seems that the tailgates were much more special back then, or maybe as a kid i just didnt notice it that much. Anyway i kinda got off the path on that, and i appreciate you guys and gals (the ones who did anyway) cutting me some slack. I am very opinionated but please dont take that for being less of an LSU fan. If we go 0-10 i will still be cheering for our team, might be calling for the coaches head, but will still bleed purple and gold. I will try and keep my fury to a minimum from now on. Thanks guys and gals of TF.:LSU231::geauxtige
My 13 year old son and I have been discussing this season. He was crushed when he found out we are no longer ranked. Once he recovered from the shock, he wanted to know if an LSU team had "ever" finish with worse than an 8 - 4 record. I explained to him that there was a time when LSU fans would have given anything to finish 8 - 4. I showed him the records from the Hallman years and the end of Dinardo's tenure. He couldn't believe it. This year has been an eye opening experience for him. We'll be better next year, the team will be better and our schedule is more favorable.
Just pop in the video from either of our 2 BCSCGs and it'll make him feel better. Regardless of who's playing in the real BCS... LSU wins in this house every year.
He and I were lucky enough to make a road trip to the NC game last year. It was an unvbelievable father-son experince. Not that we don't talk about the game but he still brings up all the "little" things that we did 2gether, where we stayed, what we ate, Bourbon Street etc.
That's great, congrats on being a responsible father. My son will be 6 next Sept... so I am going to start taking him to games next season and get him into the experience. He watches all the games on tv with me and asks me 100s of questions so he's already about some LSU football... LOL he refuses to sleep in anything but his P&G pjs. But i'm looking forward to getting him into the stadium experience soon.
My son isn't even three and everytime I put football on the tube...no matter who's playing...he says "Geaux Tigers! We watching LSU Football, huh daddy?!". He went as Mike the Tiger for Halloween, and he was so excited. He's a kool-aid drinker in the making!
wasn't here for your apparent meltdown but it takes balls to make an apology thread. I've been there.. after the 06 UT loss I was on such ridiculous tilt from the stress of the storm and the way they lost that game I just went completely nuts wanting pelini gone etc and got so closed minded. It was not representative of my personality at all and I know what it's like to feel so invested in something you have no control over Enjoy the game this week
that's what internet forums are for lasalle, i didn't really post here all season until the season went down so no big deal. there also should be an obvious distinction to anyone reading showing that you disapproved of certain things but you never questioned their merits. same with me. cheers and let's beat the hog... err... let's kick arkansas' ass.
