phooey on this "going belly up", please paint me a picture of the post apocalyptic America you fear.

I'm spouting at everyone now, not you specifically, tirk

I think we've been turned into a bunch of hand wringers. There's goodness all around us, but everybody ignores it and frets, worrying about the gloom, ignoring the sunshine.

People have been predicting our downfall since 1776, I believe we are approaching our finest hour.

and don't let the media scare you, it's not as dire as cnn and fox are pushing us to believe,.. the sun will come up tomorrow

It is. Get one socialist in charge and there will be a drastic change. What he said about the single family home is GOING to have consequences within the next few decades.

Socially, we ARE going backwards. We are fighting racism with racism. We are fighting sexists by being sexists. etc. This is mostly due to the fact that for the last few decades are colleges have become overwhelmingly LEFT. Our kids are getting dumber.

Humans are sneaky little things. There will be another major conflict.

To add, Europe is divided. America is divided. China is flexing on us with Russia. We ain't got time to sit here and bitch about social inequality, but here we are.

Not necessarily dumber, just being trained in a different and detrimental way of thinking and behaving. They are learning to STFU and that their opinions are bad ones unless some lefty prof has taught them otherwise.
We have a society that is almost completely dependent on technology and electronic communication. There cannot be a finest hour in that scenario. People are communicating everything via text....firings, hirings, break-ups, throwing the election, etc. The point is, when human beings lose their motivation and ability to communicate face-to-face, they/we also lose the ability to give a shit about others, to have any empathy or compassion whatsoever. Society is becoming increasingly lazy, more gubment dependent, and is embracing a victim mentality.

There is no finest hour with anyone named kardashian still grabbing headlines, with people tweeting their entire lives, with the constant finger-pointing and blame game tactics, the slow strangling of the middle class, tax rates that destroy entrepreneurship, and any idea AT ALL that globalism is a good idea.

Our finest hour is in the rear view.

not going to disagree with anything you wrote,.. there is a lot of fucked up stupid crap going on,.. but when hasn't there been? During our history, America has been in a lot deeper shit than we face today, don't panic we will survive.

123, I was thinking about something you've said, while I wrote my last post. When Trump was elected, people on the left and some in the middle freaked out, myself; guilty as charged. What you said to me is, "How has your life gotten worse since Trump was elected?",.. well it hasn't.

I was whipped into a frenzy by media hysteria, headlines, "The World is Ending", draws a lot of attention, sells a lot of ads,.. the fat cats who don't really care about blue or red, make a lot of money off of our anguish. The media roar is hard to ignore, they really know how to manipulate the masses.

The sky has not fallen. It didn't come crashing down when the President you despise was in the White House either. America is ungovernable, we are too big, there are too many of us to be ruled, and we are fiery independent. We all do what we've always done,.. look out for ourselves. Politics, our government, isn't as important as they want us to think.

Duck, there's nothing wrong with trying to have a positive attitude but not at the cost of neglecting to be vigilant about the forces that are undermining the basic goodness of buman values. For most of the history of the human race the value placed on.life was cheap and still is in many places on earth. It was western civilization that set us on the path to oud right to be free and that was paid for by countless oceans of the blood and guts of our forefathers.

In the last 100 years we have twice seen the entire planet embroiled in all out mayhem. It's a damn good thing that Americans didn't say "oh, those Germans and Japanese are really good people deep down. Why should I risk my life to kill them."

I'm old enough that I won't live to see the ultimate downfall of westetn ideals but I relly fear for tbe younger generation.

I never said anything about, neglecting to be vigilant,.. I believe in the opposite,.. "Semper Vigilans", always watching.

The gist of what I said is,.. keep your chin up, don't let the motherfuckers drag you down, and have some faith in America

Agree, and my use of the word "compromise" wasn't correct. Its not about compromise, its about winning the debate, and by that I mean convincing the opponents that you are right and they are wrong.

Everything is far too politicized where no real world discussions can be had needed to move forward. The goal now is not progress. It's the gotcha movement. Tolerance of mostly bullshit over progress and achievement rules the day.

The government and the people would need an awakening yet may be incapable.

The US cannot be a welfare nation and survive. It's for those who assimilate and want to be a part of what makes us great by taking advantage of its opportunities.

Not bilking and bleeding the system. It's simply not sustainable. The US was originally an idea. I'd say the greatest ever. That idea is now in pretty deep trouble because many of its citizenry do not share the virtues needed for it to survive.
