a little exaggeration on my part bro, not trying to short-change Mackey in any way, he was nothing short of amazing. All I was saying was that he had the privelege of some pretty good kids around him whereas Randle's supporting cast is an unknown commodity for right now.

I agree with what Mastermind says here.

Sure. Write it down and you'll grow smarter.

Well, based on his numbers, yeah. I'm sure his mom and all his friends think he is the best quarterback that ever was. But the professional recruiters and coaches seem to think he is a college receiver and they know their business very well. Almost half of college defensive backs and receivers were high school quarterbacks. Experience as a high school quarterback can help such players.

    Did you get that down?

You still cant discount the fact that if a big time school says yes Randle we will take you as a QB, just to get his committment, it would be a possibility that he goes with another program. Just on that bogus promise, everyone says he is smart, but if he has the chance to play QB exclusively at college at a big program.

A chance is not a guarantee. Many schools make promises that they don't live up to to get a player signed. Then they can change him when he's committed. Others recruit a player for a specific position and that's the deal. Sometimes they lose out on a potential star.

The smart way, that most coaches do, is to honestly recruit the player at the position that they feels he's best suited for, but guarantee that they'll let him have the opportunity to compete at his favorite position. If he can beat the other recruits there--great! If he can't, then for the good of the player and the team, he moves to where he can get quicker playing time and help his team and his career.

Well I asked someone who discussed this with him in the last month and the whole QB in college thing is overblown. Randle understands where his future lies.

    Okay smart guy...

For the last time, I have a pretty good feeling he will play WR in college. I have that feeling because as a two year starter, he's done all he needs to do to prove himself as a WR in college. Why wouldn't the professional recruiters and coaches think he's a college receiver when that's the only position he every played, with the exception of two games in 2006. He didn't even play mop-up duty in blowouts because he was a big reason for those blowouts so he was on the sidelines relaxing with the rest of the starters.

This kid doesn't make a decision without a couple of adults that make up his inner circle, that have been where he's trying to go. One of those persons coaches him, and happens to be one of my best friends. I'm not putting out speculation. According to his coaches that have watched him develop since he was 12, he's no less talented than Mackey at the QB position, with the emphasis on talented. It's just that he created so many mismatches at the high school level as a 6'4 WR that a 5'10 Mackey would not have created at WR, so the choice was simple. What they don't know is if he has that same refusal to lose that Mackey had. Mackey had 3 years in the pressure cooker and never came up short. Noone knows if Rueben will respond the same way. That's what this year is all about. IF he performs well (well does not necessarily mean winning state), and IF a school, be it LSU or someone else, gives him a chance to play QB as a result, he's going to do it. If not, he'll happily play WR for LSU...or someone else ...

    Did YOU get that down?

Well I asked someone who coaches and sees him everyday, and the response was similar but not exact. You missed the double meaning in what was said.

Guys, please don't think I'm trying to stir up crap, because I'm not. I just happen to know more than most on here would on THIS particular situation. I wouldn't dare comment on any non-Bastrop recruit when I know nothing about their situation. I comment on this one because I do, and the whole QB in college is about as overblown as that 95% chance he goes to LSU is...

I keed I keed...I'm gonna stop messing with you guys because God knows I hope he wears purple and gold next year. Hell I hope he does as early as January.
