Click on the top left picture in the link. http://tulanegreenwave.cstv.com/photogallery/gallery_index.html?school=tul&sport=m-basebl& I don't like it. The only thing that's actually dirt is the pitcher's mound. The rest is just brown turf. That's not baseball if you ask me.
Lazy Weenies. They just don't want to water and drag the infield in the 7th inning. I agree, that's not baseball... that's too lame.
it is field turf like the majors use. (not astro turf.) i have heard that it drains like a charm. the under-lay (or whatever you call it) is supposed to be good and there are no problems with taking dives on it to slide or anything else. i have heard the players really like it. jones wanted what he saw was the field surface available and he got it. balls also take some really fast hops on it. i am a purist when it comes to bb fields, and love to see natural grass. but i have to admit, even tho aesthetically it takes getting used to, i have heard nothing but good things about their field, even from fans who were against the idea originally.
Yeah, I see that. I was responding to OkieTiger's statement that it's the same field turf that the pro's use. Some of the pro fields are field turf, but the dirt parts are real dirt on the pro fields.
thank you. the field looks great and is very modern. I hope the field at "The Box" looks that good. For those of you complainers, get used to that look, because I'd imagine... hell, I know... it will be done that way. I like "old school" stuff as much as anyone, but innovations make the game better.
I want to see it in action before making a judgement on it, but I don't see how fake dirt will make the game better.
