After matt clark hit that homer in the first inning when he got back to the dugout he slammed his helmet on the ground, and it looked like there was some verbal exchange going on. The commentators said that there was some bad blood, and that even Gilespie and Manaeri had words the night before. What happened, were words excanged between stowell and clark? :geauxtige
I didn't notice that, and I don't remember the commentors saying anything either, I will hafta go look on my tivo and see if I can see something.
It was not the pitcher, it was the Irvine catcher. He continued to jaw with our dugout through the first few innings...until our run count entered the stratosphere. It came about because the team met Clark at home plate and celebrated, and the catcher did not like it. Too bad...
Yep, cuz no team comes out to celebrate a home run with a teammate in college baseball...whatever. Oh wait arizona state might not, they would rather fight with each other, instead of win!
I did see Clark look at the pitcher right before he touched 1st base. I am not a lip reader but I thought he said something like "that one was for you".
There was also rumors of arguments between the coaching staffs about UCI stealing signals in Game 1 and 2. On another forum they discussed that Gibbs signals could be seen in the UCI dugout and the 1st base coach was sending the pitch to the batter. Not sure if this is true or not but they said the would signal a fastball with the batters first name like "lets go and then 1st name'' and last names for off speed pitches. If Gibbs signals were being stolen then that is the coahes and teams fault but communicating every pitch is garbage if true.
My manager told me he caught some of this when he was watching game one. He said there were some UCI fans (associates) dressed in LSU colors sitting over the 3rd base dugout, and that they were relaying the pitches to the UCI coach.
