i'm normally a pretty positive guy, except where clm offensive philosophy/expertise is concerned. on the surface i feel like it's a home run, in regards to in roads to young men in that part of the country. he should certainly help reel in some good recruits. but for how long??? i can't help but think he will wind up back in alabama somewhere, probably auburn. any time he spends here he's getting in the good graces of louisiana players and their parents. that could hurt us later on if/when he leaves. hope i'm wrong and our stable of recruiters are here for a long time!!!
I think there is some truth to this, but it would be nothing new. All of these guys are resume building with their stops in hopes of climbing the ladder toward HC or at least a coord, etc. Building contacts at those stops is part of it. No doubt his ultimate desire is likely to get back to AU. He's from ALA, it's his alma mater, and now he has coaching connections there.
Steele made out like a bandit. His contract covers the possibility of Malzahn getting fired. He's looking at three years worth of working ... that very well may be one year's worth of being on the job. You'd have to compare the dates if you think the two coincide. Craig put his name out there about a month ago. He's been fighting for more duties since the season started. But, there's Lashee. We haven't talked about Auburn much lately on this forum but the few times we have it's always been "that staff will implode." Look back at the Muschamp threads... I don't get that. Are you talking about him getting the Co title at AU versus FSU?
Not like he hasn't been around some quality programs. Seems like he'd have to have learned something. If he can "teach" it, I guess we'll see. From wiki:
I said Steele was a great film guy. A guy who could spot talent in linebackers. Look at the linebackers at Bama the last few years, and tell me what I've said about Steele again.
