Collins will start the spring at LT and see how it goes. He practiced some last year at the position. If it works out the coaches feel they could have the best possible starters in at line and very good depth at OG.

    Read the write-up.
To add, something not in the write-up........
At age 15, he began having seizures, which were later diagnosed as epilepsy. He started on medication to control it and was able to continue playing football.

notes from Times Picayune article talking about OL

Miles: "We just have to get the best five in place."

Starting left guard La'el Collins, who
played tackle in high school, will get the
first crack at stepping in (at LT)

"We'll look at him initially and see what
he's got," Miles said of Collins.

    Miles said redshirt freshman Jerald
Hawkins (6-6, 300) will get a look at the
    position

another plan is to move sophomore Vadal Alexander (6-6, 350) from right tackle.

Incoming freshman Ethan Pocic (6-7, 285)
will get a look at tackle and is also a
    candidate at guard

At center, three-year starter P.J. Lonergan will be sorely missed.

    Elliott Porter (6-4, 300)
is clearly the starter but LSU will
have to develop an up-and-comer. The
likely candidate is freshman K.J. Malone,
who played some center in high school,
but he won't arrive until August.

Williford has also been taking snaps at center as backup to Porter

Miles said Williford (6-7, 332) appears to have recovered from the concussion he suffered against Florida...Given his experience (19 starts at G), he's a prime candidate to start at left guard.

    Miles said sophomore TE
Dillon Gordon (6-5, 280) has shed some
weight and is ready to step in as a better
    receiving alternative.

Geez, does it really take that long? How was Tebow playing after two weeks in '09 or '10...whenever that was? I understand that not all injuries are the same, but that's quite a large discrepancy.

    It's like this specialist said:

    Dr. Robert Cantu,
a concussion specialist at Brigham and
Women’s Hospital in Boston who has
spent more than 30 years studying head-
    related injuries...
“The most important thing to understand
about a severity of a concussion is that
you don’t grade it on the moment it
happens, but on how long the symptoms
    last,” Cantu said.

2 weeks after Tebows concussion, he put up 172 yards of total offense on LSU in Tiger Stadium, "Showing no ill effects of his concussion" as the New York Times wrote

Now compare that to Willifords symptoms:

“I had to do bed rest for like two
weeks,” Williford said. “No brain stimulation.
    I wasn’t allowed to go to class. I wasn’t
allowed to turn on the TV. “I’d go see the
doctor on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
That was all I was allowed to do. I couldn’t
drive or anything. Couldn’t go to class. They
told me the only way to get a concussion
better was no brain activity.” “You have bad
    headaches,” Williford said. “You have
blurred vision. You’re real sensitive to the
light and noise. You have nausea... yeah, I
got scared.” Williford ended up dropping
some classes due to the time required to be
away from school. “I missed almost a month
of school,” he said. “That put me significan
tly behind.” Not being able to attend
practices or game was "what hurt me the
worst,” Williford said. “The first two games I
felt like I’ve got to watch them, but I
couldn’t hardly watch them. I’d lie down, put
my face in the pillow and listen to them. It
hurt. It was terrible.” Williford got plenty of
support from teammates during those trying
times. “Everybody came over and checked
on me,” Williford said. “Coaches called and
    checked on me.”

That's crazy Alan Faneca lost so much weight so fast out of football

With Williford, how long did he end up not being allowed to work out due to his confussion, and how bad did that set him back in his strength and weight training/development?

Like Tiger_Fan side they all react differently...remember Sidney Crosby (the Pittsburg Penguin) basically sat out a year with a concussion and hockey players are pretty tough.
