I would be curious to hear his excuse on why that team never won an NCAA title. Chris Jackson, Vern Singleton, Stan Roberts, Mike Hanson, Don Redden and Shaq. Guess we will chalk it up to bad coaching. Speaking of that is it to late to bring Brady back? I don’t ever see LSU making it to another final 4 under this current coach. :bball::bball::bball::bball::bball::bball::bball:

Ego problems between Jackson and Shaq were a lot of it. CJ was not a team player, but Shaq was. LSU also didn't have a dominating forward at the time. Stanley flunked out, CJ went pro after his sophomore year. Dale just couldn't pull them all together.

I never knew CJ and Shaq had beef?

You forgot about the best rebounder in LSU history Girt Hammock! He use to destroy Duane Shinsus and the mullet rocking Gators….

Wow, that is quite a cheap shot at Coach Johnson. I think you are so wrong.
Nobody wants Brady back, that ship has sailed. You must have a short memory because his last few years weren't very good. I believe LSU had 2 to 3 wins in SEC play. They weren't good at all, LSU basketball was in decline with some bad characters, broken Jaw, transfers, etc. Coach Johnson took that 2 win team and won the SEC West his first year.

Going back to my favorite team of all time.
CJ and Shaq only played together for one year. As good as that team was and I believe it probably is the best college team ever, CJ, Shaq and Stanley Roberts could dominate a game like no other I've ever seen. They never played for that long together, Stanley was in and out that year, etc. If they had one more year together they would have won, not a problem.

The reason Shaq did not win the title was because of the crazy lucky GaTech 3 point shooting. IMHO

Don Redden passed away in 1988, before Shaq even started at LSU.

Sho nuff. Maybe he was thinking Rickey Blanton, but then again I don't know if Rickey played with Shaq either.

Was that with CJB talent? Anyhow I was just giving the guy a hard time. Frustrating when the Baseball and Football programs over exceed and the hoops squad can't seem to get it right. You would think with all the ballers in the La high school system LSU could put together a nice squad one of these days....

Just thinking how they beat #1 Georgetown in the dome that year, Arizona (Steve Kerr) and That Loyola Merrymount game the score was like 143-140 (Hank the Bank and BO Kimble) I think 3 tigers had like 30 points each. For the record it was Ricky Blanton not Redden... I stand corrected.
