well he is a QB, that much is known. but being that he is a "playmaker" we all know that he gives you the option to run a lot of different plays. that is the angle that my question was geared toward. but i don't think that it would hurt to line him up at receiver a couple times a game to keep the defense guessing. or perhaps line him up in the backfield with some direct snaps a la KW. some type of hybrid spread. i wouldn't want him blocking downfield or anything just yet, but i think that since he's not going to get too much time at QB with both lee and jefferson, it'd be ride to use him as sort of a utility player since we all know he is NOT going to redshirt. this way he is at least not wasting a year of eligibility. i thought that he was a little small to be a proficient SEC-caliber QB. i would like to think that the CLM probably knows this and has something up his sleeves. i'm not doubting his abilities -- we all know this dude is something special. basically this is just speculation to waste time until football is in full swing. and again i think some of us (myself included) just need to realize that LSU will always favor powerful defense over prolific offenses. rohan davey to josh reed was a treat, and i'd like to see crowton throw some stuff in there that will make sports center. :geauxtige
i don't think that the learning curve would be that much. the dude has had access to coaches and the playbook since the spring. maybe he can grasp it, maybe not. it's certainly possible.
LOL, this is inherently contradictory. There's no way he'll see more than a handful of snaps per game this year if he DOESN'T redshirt. So which is the bigger waste of eligibility?
I agree. He can be a great college player, but I can't see him being a guy who goes pro early just in that he doesn't translate to the NFL, so there will always be the questions, so I don't think he will redshirt, but it's not a waste if he does.
That 2001 defense was atrocious, too, so that was the only way for us to win games. I wonder if we would have gotten to see the most prolific pass-catch duo in school history had that defense been worth a damn.
the redshirt. i get your point. But what if he makes just one game changing play? what if that play is the game winning TD against, let's say, florida in TS? i don't like "what ifs" but it's a legitimate question. good point.
I wanna see him returning kicks...and I don't care what anyone says. He's too small? See TH. Dude isn't that small. Can you imagine trying to kick away from BOTH of them on kickoffs?? We'd start every drive at the 40. Too risky? IMHO, more likely to get hurt at wideout...or even just running out of the Wild Tiger.
I would like to see RS on the feild at QB only. I think his future is at QB and I would like to see him in a similar role that RP had.
heh. you could have said that you would like to see him perform like tim tebow, troy smith or vince young lol.
