Don't be stupid. It was an illegal, dirty, and dangerous hit. It was probably an accident, but you can get ejected for hits like that.

Put that play in the NFL and the DB is 25 - 30K lighter in the wallet the following week.

correct. at first it looked horrible and the announcers didnt help when they influenced that opinion.

but on the replay it wasnt nearly as bad as it seemed initially. it hit right at the top of his facemask. big difference than launching yourself unable to see what you're hitting which is the definition of spearing.

not bad technique and not dirty but definitely a penalty in 2009.

unless its done in gumpville. by a gump.

I agree with red. It was a bad non-call,but given the previous non-calls against us this year, I wasn't surprised that the ref didn't flag it

No question week in and week out vs SEC competition I would take our DB's over LaTech but.... "any day of the year" not on this night.

J Lee 7/22 105 yds compared to LaTech 17/33 144 yds. Just sayin...

And if our DB's rendered a few opposing receivers unconscious with clean hits for a "few" seconds I'd be OK with that.

A lot of people say this, but I doubt he's trying to do this... if you look at the passing styles from JL to JJ...

JL seems to have this slow "floating" ball that hangs up in the air a little too long... not good at all for short or over the middle routes, as it lends to the ideas that the QB is hanging his recievers out to be smashed... but on the long tosses when he's "on", those are light fluffy beautiful passes.

A JJ type pass is very hard thrown ball... look at him when he throws, it's almost as if he's on a mound and taking a huge wind up before releasing the ball, which ends up looking more like bullets being shot at our WRs.

It's not whether or not he was trying to. No one thinks he was intentionally trying to get Toliver hurt. But the fact is that he did.

True that... but that's imo more to do with his throwing style. But that's also another reason I hate those short passes, unless there's a guy to block for him, the reciever usually gets smashed, and more time than not it's a loss of yardage.

I just don't get your point. Yeah, of course it's got a lot to do with his throwing style. How does that make it better or change anything?

Is a wobbly floating lame duck actually a throwing style? That's what he was heaving up all night. Very few balls he threw had a tight spiral or reached their intended target in a manner to be easily caught. I know he can do better than this because we've seen him throw better. I can't say where his head was, but it surely wasn't in the football game.

Tolliver manned up and went to get it and paid the price. Of course Lee didn't get him hurt on purpose. He just wasn't throwing the ball well.
