I may be a sunshine pumper, and I'll take it, but: 1.) Instead of taking a safety on the botched punt snap +7 points 2.) Missed extra point +1 3.) Missed field goal +3 4.) Safety to keep from punting in endzone and risk a return +2 We essentially beat ourselves up to 13 points tonight. That's what we gave Miss St. 13 points. 30-13 shoulda been. It's cool though. Fire Miles because we have a brand new coaching staff and the team isn't clicking. We also gave Vandy 2 points in that game as well. Flame on...
You forgot to give them 2 points for the safety we take on the punt but I know what you mean. The defense played well for the most part. If we can get some semblance of a run game going we'll be fine. EDIT: I guess if Russian doesn't give the high snap then you're right, it was points we practically gave to state. It was a sloppy field though so I'm sure they could say the same as well on some plays.
I would go to the MSU boards and see what they are saying about losing after outgaining LSU by over 100 yards. The pitiful pass play for a gift TD to Peterson off the deflection. The 19 missed tackles on Chad Jones on that punt return that should by all accounts have been stopped inside our own 10 yard line. It will give you some perspective.
My one disagreement: had we taken the safety instead on the botched punt snap it would have been a difference of 5, not 7, points. :geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige
Well, you also never know what they would have done with the ball after we kick to them on the first safety. It would have been a totally different game. But you're right, at that point, the better play for the punter is to try and take a safety.
#4 on there is about the smartest thing we did all day. A number of bad things could have happened: blocked punt, total shank, TD return... That was good coaching.
The tiger that intercepted the ball on 4th freaking down putting them about 15 yrds back. Doesnt the coach teach them little things like that?
