McKnight will be heading into the '09 campaign as a strong Heisman trophy candidate. He is going absolutely nowhere.
I don't know that JM will be the Heisman hopeful for USC. I could easily see Stafon Johnson being the one for that. Stafon IS an every down back and proved himself last year when he wasn't injured. JM will continue to return kicks/punts and will be a RB who also catches the ball in the flat, on wheel routes, etc. At least I think he will as he has been participating in winter ball workouts and conditioning. :yelwink2: I believe it's possible that Joe might have liked to see the field a bit more last season. I also think he pressed and made some mistakes, fumbles. The Rose Bowl was a turning point. He was given the ball, he delivered. Perhaps his junior year will be worthy of accolades.
Or they could all play together and everyone is happy. Joe doesn't really take carries from anyone. He can be used to catch passes, run kicks/punts, get an occasional toss, etc... I think he would have been more our Holliday.
I don't think it would make much of a difference, We had games where these backs came in this year and last year and did well. And then didn't play for the rest of the game for whatever reason only to watch another back do average. If they didn't transfer because of that I doubt they would for a guy that wont tote the rock 25 times a game anyways.
I wonder if the bitterness was fueled by the "drama"....if he had said all along it was USC...well, people might not have held on to the hope for so long.... I personally, think we did ok!
of course. kinda trips me out people wishing ill will on the kid or even still angry about it. we have tons of out of state recruits and we think thats just fine. he did what he thought was best. i wish him well. although i must admit when i watched his videos last year i didnt see what everyone else saw. i think it was because he made it look pretty effortless without crazy cutting ability. or maybe my skill recognition is just terrible. this was before he went to USC so i made sure not to say anything. :yelwink2:
(wondering why this thread is still alive, then realizing I'm helping it live by typing this) :insane::huh:
I harken back to the Bush/White combo in which White was not much thought of as a Heisman candidate. With McKnight being the much flashier player that can do just about anything, he will clearly be the candidate for USC.
