Shepard & Ford are both great on the sweep AND on the screen passes. I'm actually surprised Ford hasn't seen more screen/swing passes. He is so deadly in space, as is Shepard. If either of them get behind one blocker in the flats, they can pretty much juke the entire defense with one move.
This game will be close. Auburn is coming in town to play LSU the #1 team in the country, with 2 of there best players and leaders I might add out of the game. With all the distractions from the beginning of the year to present its bound to effect the team sooner or later. Our offense will not have the punch w/o ware it usually has. The defense I'm not so much worried about. Auburn will throw everything but the kitchen sink at us to beat us. I think we win but not by no 21 points. I will go with close game through the 3rd and we pull away with TD late to pull out the win. This will be a difficult game for LSU. LSU - 30, AUBARN - 20.........
Let's talk x's and o's ... I know of few in THIS FORUM that even have a clue about the basics of football ... Do you know what a dive play is ... Pennsylvania? I found a way LSU can annihilate this Auburn defense ... and this exact point was sent into the coaches this past week I expect LSU to go to the well with a modification of the basic dive play this week AND CLEAN AUBURN'S CLOCK REPEATEDLY DUE TO A HUGE MISMATCH ON THE OL/DL ... and we have the counter ready when they cheat to stop the dive play mod! Wanna know more?
Yes, I ackowledged Shepard has been doing very well and I hope to hell he continues to evolve. But you said this: "And Shepard is one of the best running backs we have running the sweep since Charles Alexander." As containedchaos pointed out, you could easily argue Ford is the best at it on this team or at least just as effective. You're going back over 30 years, when the answer might be found within the past 3 months instead.
IF YOU'RE REALLY INTERESTED ... WATCH THE TN GAME REPLAY IN THE LAST 2 MINUTES OF THE 3rd QUARTER ... LSU 99 yard drive ... Particularly the Hilliard 13 yard run on 2nd down and 7 where he busts up the middle. Get the video out again and watch it! Go to 2:30 left in the third quarter ... It's the 99-yard drive with JJ After you watch the replay ... answer these 5 Q's 1. What kind of a dive play was that? Don't tell me "FB 101 smart guy"! 2. How did they set it up? (What was the play before that one, lol) 3. Who was the 2nd back in the backfield in the deep set? 4. What was the main threat JJ and that 2nd back brought to the table? 5. If you're Auburn's DC, what do you do first ... $HIDD or go blind That's just what LSU is capable of on a BASIC DIVE PLAY! What more would you like to know about LSU FB ... LOL
