I am referring to the opinion of the vast majority, and the opinion of the vast majority back when Saban was at LSU was that he was a God. Yes, Les has won a lot of people over in his time here, but there are still a good bit of people in Tiger Nation, including people that keep posting on here, that don't think Les is anywhere near as great as Saban. As for myself, I always knew that Dinardo deserved a good deal of credit for rebuilding LSU, and that a lot of the stuff people praise Saban for were really stuff that was set in place by Dinardo. I've argued this many times. For a second opinion, see http://community.foxsports.com/blog...iles_An_Honest_Dissection_by_an_LSU_Supporter Quotes: Other things that Dinardo did to restore greatness at LSU, besides the 3 great seasons we had from '95 to '97, include how he lobbied the NCAA to allow us to bring back the tradition of the white home jerseys and putting the traditional "H" style goal posts back in Tiger Stadium.
I don't know if it is the only school that could pay him more, but I do know that ND would easily pay him more. Look at Weis, the guy hasn't had a single big win in 4 years at ND, and they pay him this insane salary that is currently #3 in the NCAA. I think ND would pay $10 million a year to get Saban. ND is oozing with money. They are ranked #1 in the Forbes list of richest college football programs each and every year. For decades they keep renewing this more-and-more lucrative contract with NBC to show all their home games. Every poll I've seen on the most popular college football team in America shows that ND is #1 every time. Heck, I was just reading this article yesterday talking about how ND is the only school (besides the military academies) that has an intramural pad-football league, and the ND officials were saying it costs them around $30,000 a year with insurance and everything, and that no other normal school in the nation could afford to do that, and that they themselves probably wouldn't do it if it wasn't something that hadn't been started by Knute Rockne. To see the article go here: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page...aign=rsssrch&source=notre+dame+fighting+irish It's called "Notre Dame's tradition like no other." It was actually an interesting read.
Maybe someone brought this up earlier, but take a look at Michigan. There are some pretty pissed people up in Ann Arbor. My guess is if Rich Rod doesn't at a minimum have a winning season next year, the rumor mill about Miles will go nuts.
Even if Michigan were looking for a coach next year doubt it would be Miles. If they really wanted him last year he would be there.
