Anybody thinks JJ looks any better in practice to warrant being on the field

It's not just the passing that is better with Lee. The threat of the pass with Lee in makes it easier for the running game. When JJ is in the D simply stacks the line. Lee didn't play that bad, but he wasn't as sharp as the Florida game. The shuffling of QB's back and forth doesn't help either get into the flow of the game.

Hey, I'll be the first to admit Lee made 2 bad passes last night. One was the pass that seemed to slip out of his hand and hit the ground in front of the receiver and the other was on the same drive after they took him and put JJ in, then took JJ back out and asked him to throw a pass. He threw it to the inside of the receiver and it could have been an INT. However I blame that last one more on Miles. He's the only HC I've seen to ever ice his own QB before a big 3rd down throw.

But this is what I've been saying since last week. JLee NEEDED to get the snaps in this game to work out those flaws. JJ taking 5 of series last night only slowed down JLee from progressing.

Well, at least you don't have to look away too long. His drives usually end up in 3-and-outs or turnovers.

Fact 1- JL has been here 3yrs
Fact 2- He practices against a better D than he plays against in games
Fact 3- Michigan and Arkansas both had QBs that stepped right in and performed without knowing they would play
Fact 4- He said himself that he knows the playbook well

Bottom line = We have 2 QBs that are no where near the level of the other aspects of this team. JL's (and for that matter JJ's) progression is what it is, more snaps is not the answer. I think the staff is desperately trying to keep both of them from "losing" a game; JJ by taking sacks and JL by pick 6. If we completely sit JJ and JL gets hurt then what. I can't count how many times ppl on this board have clammered about getting backups meaningful snaps. (not pointing you out just in general) Well, we know have 2 backups and 0 "starters". And for those that want RS to take all the snaps, see Denard Robinson and MI the last 2 weeks against good D's. They lost and he's out. As a change up sure I'd love it, but not full time.

If you see it that way. I was thinking more 2 halves make a whole. That damm math, you know. I haven't been here long but I'm not an appologist. If I was more than 50% sure that Lee could shoulder the work alone, I'd be for it. He looked decent against FL and I got up to 49%, then last night happened. I think they use JJ as a change of pace to throw off the D and to keep JL from feeling the pressure at this point. Is JL better, sure. Should he get all the snaps, no.

But I'll take "elaborate" as a compliment. Thanks.

Only practice I got to see was the spring game.

And it was an accurate predictor of what we are seeing this season.

No one's saying we have world beaters at the QB position. If you want to discussion other schools recruiting QB's better than us. . .go right ahead in another thread. But that's a different issue.

Right now JJ and JL are all we have. JL hasn't really played in 2 years, what do you mean "more snaps is not the answer"?????? Even if you play against a better defense in practice every week, they also aren't trying to knock your head off either. REAL GAME SNAPS are very important. Especially for Lee, since he's been asked to drive us down the field and win 2 games coming off the bench already. JJ has plenty of snaps. He only runs 3 plays, how often do you really need to practice them in real game situations?

Injury also isn't a reason to split the snaps. The Saints don't have a QB behind Drew Brees but you don't see Chase Daniels going in for half the snaps. LSU is boned if JL goes down, but they'd only be marginally more boned than they are now by splitting snaps. JJ kills drives and wastes opportunities for us to score.

Bottom Line: JL needs snaps to improve. He's going to make mistakes. You can help him correct them by giving him snaps in games where there isn't a lot of pressure. LSU will need him playing his sharpest from here on out.
