From Scout.com: Outback Bowl Jan. 1 / 11 a.m. ET Tampa, Fla. ESPN Iowa vs LSU http://cfn.scout.com/2/557866.html
It goes back to when the ACCCG was in Jacksonville - they had #2 pick but it wasnt going to be good for the loser to return to Jax for the Gator. The ACC got the Chicken to up the payout to the ACC team and get the #2 pick. The Chicken bowl pays more to the ACC than it does the SEC, hence a big part of the difference in pick order. Now that the ACCCG is moving, next 2 in Tampa then at least 2 years in Charlotte, it really doesnt make a lot of sense. I think the Chicken Bowl should up their payment to the SEC too and get the #3 pick. Not sure timing on contracts and stuff so maybe they are planning that.
The Chick-fil-a Bowl usually will get anywhere from #3 to #5 in the SEC, but as has been mentioned before, the Cotton Bowl gets first pick in the West and the Outback gets first pick in the East unless they choose to give up those preferences. I believe LSU was #3 in the SEC when they played Miami there.
I wouldn't mind the Peach Bowl, but it is New Year's Eve @ 7:30 PM... Not sure how I feel about finishing the year off w/ potentially another loss... It would make in in a bad mood for the rest of the night which would then make my wife mad....and that means no hanky pankey.... :geauxtige:geauxtige :geauxtige:geauxtige
Michael Bonet was quoted from one of the radio shows that he thought it would be the Peach Bowl. It was mentioned that Spurrier wanted to go to the Outback Bowl and he is friends with the head of the Outback Bowl committee. When are the official announcemetns expected?
'Ol Steve just fired his OL coach and his qb coach (Reaves) quit today... looks like he's going to coach for his brother-in-law at Tennessee. Who picks first after the CapOne and Cotton... the Outback or the Peach?
not a great matchup, but when is the last time we lost inside a Dome? been a while, so advantage = us:grin:
