I know we are just bantering, but a revolver for the best home defense... really... with the right load, right range, a shotgun is king for home defense.
How long did you have to wait to get your gun? I went to Academy and the longest wait I had was the 10 or so minutes it took me to fill out the application on the iPad. Walked out of the store with my hellcat in under 20 min.
It's been a week. Last time I bought anything was at a pawn shop and when I called after a week they said they hadn't heard anything and come pick it up. I told that to the guy at Academy and he said they don't do that. If I haven't heard anything by Saturday there is a gun show in Gonzales Saturday and Sunday
I’ve purchased a number of weapons (10 - 15) from a local gun shop. All were purchased by the seller sending the gun to a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder (the gunshop). I normally stopped by 4:00 - 5:00 on the way home from school. I’d go in, fill out the one page, front and back. The guy would go in the back, do whatever he did, and come back. Paid him and walked out. Never took more than 10 minutes, usually closer to 5 minutes. Only once did he have trouble getting through, but I was still out very quickly. To buy a pistol, I had to go to sheriff’s office. That was an hour plus. Then take the permit to gun shop. I’m sure some asshole sold the county some worthless land, at exorbitant price to build the new office. Damn Sheriff’s Office in the most remote area of the county. Yet another local government head scratcher.
You would think I wanted to buy a nuclear weapon or a fukin cruise missle or something. 20 years ago when I bought a Glock 40 and an SKS from Precision Firearms I hadn't heard from them in a week and when I called they said that they hadn't heard anything back from the background check and to come pick them up. Same thing a few years later when I bought 2 22 rifles for my nephews for Christmas at a pawn shop. When I called Academy and they hadn't heard I told the man what had happened before and I was able to pick up my guns. The guy said."We don't do that at Academy." So I went to Precision this morning and asked had the law changed or something. He said that their policy is that if they haven't heard anything by the time the Brady thing expires to go ahead and sell the gun. So it's just the asshole stupid corporate policy of the Academy. If they never hear anything they still won't sell me the gun. I'm going to a gun show Saturday. If I can find something I like at a reasonable price from an individual I'll buy it. If not I'll go back to Precision Monday and buy the Walther and then have to wait a few days because of our asshole incompetent government. In the meantime I could be attacked by a pack of angry negro utes who kill me when I refuse to apologize for being white. And I am never buying anything from Academy again. Not even something like a pack of fish hooks. They could have had a sale right then and I would have saved $140. I went by Jim's Firearms too since I was in the area. Nothing I wanted at a decent price buy if money were no object there was a short barrel dounle barrel 12 guge I liked. I don't need it. I have a Remington pump 12 guage. I just liked it. Around $680. Have to remember to buy some lottery tickets this weekend.
You guys crack me up. Buy from a reputable dealer online, ship to local FFL, Fill out 4473, walk out. That simple. The only wait is shipping. Most HGs are overnight while LGs are shipped express ground. If you absolutely cant wait in LA. Goto LA sportsman or Bayou Shooter for a p2p. Best part, no 4473.
Seller needs copy of current FFL to ship. Most bigger online places have a DB you can search for nearest on file. If they dont, get PS to fax/email. They typically recommend you notify your FFL. I do either way. Given the rona, best to make sure in advance they are open/accepting delivery. Most pawnshops are pretty cool. Some LGS are as well. Should run tween $25-40. Do not attempt at Jims or any other shitheel snob shop.
Thats cute. What do you do about his two friends when they hear that dry click after rd6? Might want to look up the FBI stats on avg rnds required for an armed home invasion.
