Here is another disappointing defense stat from tonight's game: Guess who led the defense in tackles tonight... 31 D.J. Welter 1 8 9 . . . . . . . .
I don't think you should get credit for a tackle 10 yards + down the field. You should call that an accidental running into, or ARI. If there aren't wholesale changes on defense, then get ready for 4 losses.
I can't name one position on defense where the play is satisfactory. This is the worse defense I can remember in my years of following LSU football since the 70s. When in the history of LSU football has the team scored 41 points and lost?
Guys like Beckham need to be on the field and learn as quick as they can. He'l lmake mistakes early on but will pay dividends on the back end of the season, most notably Alabama and A&M.
A lot of young pla A lot of young players are playing, but they just arent SEC ready. Like I said, next year look out, but this year will be a bitter struggle. What surprises me most is the lack of impact plays by the DTs. These guys were suposed to be the anchor that the D hung their hat on. Big int by freak, but other than that they were a non factor. The staff really needs to do a better job finding some big uglies that can control the line of scrimmage amd wreak some havoc.
All things being equal, is it possible that the DL would see some success if the scheme is changed up? I can't recall in the recent past where our DL is consistently not getting any pressure on the QB.
How bad is Rasco? Yikes. They played Hunter over Allen most of the day. Says a lot about what they think of Allen. He may have looked "ok" against the inferior competition, but they at least knew they needed Hunter on that field. He just isn't ready. But I give them credit, they at least trotted him out there. Now they need to do the same with Beckwith at MLB.
