I was always on the Williams train. He usually did well when he received enough touches to get in the flow of the game. He is more patient though in following his blocks this year.

To say Scott is a one trick poney is far from accurate. Its not his fault the only runs the coaches call for him is straight up the middle and the OL doesnt make any holes for him.

Scott is better up the middle and off tackle runs. While Williams is better on sweeps and options. That obvious. We just need better balance in the O, as well as the OL to stepp up. Scott is still a stud back. What I love most about the LSU back is each wants the ball but isnt at all selfish. They are the first to congratulate the other. Team oriented guys.

:rolleye33: Charles Scott is the only complete RB on the team (at least, that has gotten playing time so far).

You can look at his stats throughout his career and it's the same over and over again, 6-7 yards per carry.

This was nothing new last night.

Well, funny because most of the time they run him from the I and that's it... take him out on obvious passing downs because he has a hard time turn around to catch screens. We must be watching two different players with Scott on the back. Almost no pass plays, if it is he is normally a blocker, doesn't take too many pitches, does not run at all outside even if you give him a mile. Basically if you ain't running him between the tackles I have no idea what you use him for.

That Scott up the middle play isn't going to work consistently against good SEC teams, might work for the next 2 weeks though.

He's good at what he does, straight ahead I formation runs. When that stops working, no reason to have him out there that I can see. This should be obvious now after seeing this for a season + 2 games but if you need the rest of the season to figure out what every DC out there already knows then LSU can be my guest.

Very well said, and this illustrates more of the point I am getting to. If that's all we're doing with Scott, then that will not equate to consistent success on offense.

    Scott looks overweight and slow.

Scott should still be used and I am sure he will still have some good games, but that lining up in the I play after play is killing any kind of flow to the offense. IMHO. Scott should not be the focus of the team under this circumstance. I didn't even like it when it was working early last year. I knew eventually it would come to an end.

The OC is way way way too predictable because of the formations and personnel. It worked the first year because nobody saw it before, now everyone knows how he wants to use each of the pieces.

Eventually Scott will have a big game, so what? It ain't going to work consistently against good SEC teams. IMHO

It reminds me of when Chris Jackson was playing BB at LSU, everyone was like look how great he is playing. I was like yeah, he has a hot hand right now, wait till he doesn't have a hot hand and in the mean time there is no team chemistry... what happens... the hot hand wasn't enough and that was it.

Play... Chris Jackson dribbles the ball up the court, takes jumper from the top the key... times it by 20 times a game. That was the offense. And you know what it worked, until it didn't. Other than a few UNC or Duke teams and maybe UNLV probably the most talent ever assembled on a college team... what did it mean? Squat.

5.81 actually. Scott has 5.76. Five-hundredths of a yard difference. These two senior backs are equally capable and will both see a lot of football. It's not an either/or situation. Les can play them both. And he will.

Me, I'm just a cook what do I know?

But I'm just hoping that this Scott up the middle for a couple of yards on first down is Crowton setting things up for the future games. I know when I was at LSU under McClendon we ran all kinds of things out the I formation...especially passes. I know we're not really a triple option team, but maybe something rubbed off on Crowton after the Ga, Tech game.

The first option up the middle back then had the same results...a few yards and that's it.

I have a feeling though that the Charles Scott cloud of dust has a lot to do with Crowton bringing Jefferson along for some reason..

The only thing I know is on first downs the past two weeks, you can hear me groan !! :dis:.
