Dam TT. You want to tear up Tiger Stadium's field and try to make ooh la la look more important than it could ever be. You just like stirring up sh!t don't you?

Here's whey they allegedly made the change:

UL Lafayette President Ray Authement outlined some of the reasons for the new name in
an August 27, 1999, press release. Those reasons included “recruit top-notch faculty and students; compete for the nation’s top scientists and most prestigious grants; and attract more Division I athletic teams to compete with the Ragin’ Cajuns.”

Not all in the family were happy about it:

Perhaps this was the first opportunity these out-of-state alumni had to
voice their opinions of the new name as expressed by this individual:
“i just completed your survey – i've hated the name change from when i first heard about
it in one of the alumni magazines – but what can be done at this late date – it seems like
there could have been a ground swell of negative reactions if we, the alumni, had been
notified BEFORE the name change became official – and i resented the fact that no input
    was requested of the alumns…”

I honestly don't have anything against any of UL-L's sports. For the most part they are local high school kids and I certainly want them to have success. My problem is with the delusional ULaLa fan who defines a ULaLa fan as someone who has to hate LSU. Its to the point that they spend more time hating on LSU than promoting their own program. So, even though I live in Lafayette, I take them at their word that they don't need me as a fan and I won't spend a penny supporting 'em !

Not at all, but I am from that area, and many of my friends attended ULL (USL).
I just don't feel the need to prop up LSU (not that they need it), by trying to drag down other Louisiana schools.

I'm just trying to show a little respect to a fellow Louisiana institution. :thumb:

Much like the way they show respect by calling themselves the University of Louisiana, dropping the Lafayette? Complete disrespect to ULM, but a perfect example of my most of us will always refer to them as USL.

And of course what happened at the Regionals those few years ago!

    THEY WILL FOREVER BE USL.

I think this weekend instead of chanting Tigerbait ever tiger fan should chant USL...that would piss em off more!

i think its smart to remove the directional label from the name. makes it sound less insignificant.
