There was a whirlwind of Tiger recruiting during the summer but no news lately. Anybody hear if we are expecting any more commits in the near future?
You shouldn't expect to hear too much of a whirlwind concerning recruiting at this point. Now that the season (for all practical purposes) has begun, NCAA rules prohibit from coaches contacting recruits during this period. Recruits can call coaches, but it can't happen the other way around. The only things any member of a coaching staff can do is text page recruits, and write to them....but that's it. All of these recruits are also beginning their own fall practices (probably 2-a-days in most cases) and getting ready for their own season/school year. So there are no more middle-of-the-week visits from recruits. From here on out, most of the news you hear concerning recruiting is when recruits begin taking their official visits throughout the season.
smoke landed 2 pitchers and looks like we snagged a CF from the mythers. one pitcher is a jc transfer and another from hs. here's the centerfielder scoop: Jamie Johnson (CF/LA) decommitted from Ole Miss and committed to LSU shortly after the Rebels received a commitment from Justin Reed (CF/MS). The Johnsons were concerned that Jamie and Justin would be competing against each other for the center field slot, and LSU could also provide Jamie more scholarship money. Some insiders say LSU broke the "gentleman's" rule that states that all competing clubs must stop the recruitment of a committed prospect. If true, shame on LSU's baseball staff.
I'm guessing he is going to be a senior this year because we just got Jarred Bogany (CF) a 15th round draft pick to come to campus and will compete with Sprowl for CF. So I'm not sure the grass is greener on the other side.
The 2 Texas guys are supposed to announce during their second game of the season after one of them scores a TD, we'll see.
