That makes me uneasy since Cutrera didn't fill the hole in the Arky game when the fullback ran untouched for a touchdown. What was alarming was his instincts. He wasn't blocked, but chose to stand behind a pile of people, slightly overrunning the play instead of filling the open gap. You could see Highsmith, on a later play, filling a hole that opened up and meeting McFadden in it for no gain. Lesson--a good running back is looking for a hole to open up--find the hole and you will often find him.
That's a good question. He had back surgery just a few games into the season (will likely take a medical redshirt) for a long time injury. His recovery is going great but you never know with a back. If he's healthy, he will definitely be competing for a starting spot.
I don't know. We are only losing two guys in T. Williams and Keith Rivers our Will. Cushing (Sam) and Rey-Rey (Mike) are starters hands down. Several other players including Matthews (father is Clay, uncle is Bruce), Luther Brown, Malcolm Smith (Steve's younger brother), and Kaluka Maiava did a great job filling in and on special teams particularly KM who is outstanding in the nickle. Galippo will be recovering from back surgery. So far in this recruiting class, we have no Mikes, one Will, and only one Sam still looking our direction and that's Arthur. He has taken such a pragmatic approach to his selection and I'm not sure that playing time is as big a factor as it is with others. I seem to recall that he values a "good fit" specifically with his position coach (in USC's case that's Ken Norton) and the other players. He also had academics rated highly. In the end who knows. Some of these kids try to evaluate different things and eventually just go with what feels good.
Great post. I would really like to see us land this kid and I have several other 5 Star recruits that I would love to see us get: OT Matt Patcham; we are a finalist CB Patrick Johnson; did he de-commit from Miami? DT Justin Thompson - from JC and LB Arthur Brown At this point, our class looks descent. IF we can land these 4 players and a few of the 4 star kids on our radar (TE Tyler Edwards, DE Chase Clement, and 3 WR named DeAndre or DeAngelo) our class would become top notch. :crystal: :geaux: :crystal: :geaux: :crystal:
OT Matt Patcham; we are a finalist (Slim chance) CB Patrick Johnson; did he de-commit from Miami? (Possible) DT Justin Thompson - from JC (Decent chance) and LB Arthur Brown (Very good chance, in fact, very likely) Mike is predicting a top 10 and with a couple of kids on the fence, could be much higher. :thumb:
With everything Ive been hearing/reading...my opinion is OT Matt Patcham; (slim to no chance) CB Patrick Johnson; still considered a soft commit to UM (slim chance) DT Justin Thompson - (very good chance) LB Arthur Brown (who knows, kid doesn't let anything leak....but it appears its b/t LSU and USC)
If what I heard was true, PC has offered #55 to Arthur. That's a pretty sacred number for a USC LB and is only offered to a select few. Junior Seau and Willie McGinest have worn it. Outgoing LB Keith Rivers currently wears the number. Here's some info on it if you're interested. http://usc.scout.com/2/74648.html
Arthur Brown is a very real possability, but it's no given. Nobody can get a good read on him. Side note on Justin Thompson: doubtful he comes to LSU now.
Didn't want Justin Thompson anyway. Why take a JUCO guy at DT when we are already beyond stacked at D-Line?
