not going, definitely watching. As far as pulling for Bama, I was, then like a moron, took a trip to Tidefans, gave Saban a compliment and got called trash. Read a long post from their admin that writes articles about how great Saban is and how dumb Miles is and LSU is pretty much now entrenched as 2nd best in the west. (even though they haven't beaten us in 5 years.) Sooooo....... Roll Tide (damn)
yep, the snow game was crazy, I remember a few friends calling me after they turned the tv on and saw that Shreveport looked like Buffalo...I didn't make it to that one, had to work. most of the teams that visit have either a winning record or .500 record...there may have been a season or two when a team came in with a conference record below .500 but I don't think anyone has come in below .500 overall.
I go to the Independence Bowl every year. It always turns out to be a great ballgame. The old stadium isn't the greatest venue and the end zone seats are often underpopulated. (except 1995 & 1997) But the teams that get invites usually have something to prove and play some of their best football of the season in Shreveport. The LSU-MSU game in 1995 will always rank as my favorite Independence bowl. The first half was one of the most exciting halves of football I've ever witnessed. Faulk, Kennison, Northern, Gilyard, and CO. took care of business (and Nick Saban) in the second half. The stadium was absolutely electric that night.
I know some of you look down on the Indy Bowl but i can tell you both teams enjoy the experience and having the choice of sitting at home or coming to Shreveport for a bowl experience i think people are glad they chose the latter. The people of Shreveport roll out the red carpet and i am glad that the bowl exists. It will never be the Sugar Bowl but it was never meant to be. It serves its purpose admirably and i can remember LSU enjoying the experience on their way back up after the down years. And yes it is usually one of the better games of all the games in bowls because the teams are pretty evenly matched. These kids work hard all year long and so do the coaches and i am glad they get a week of reward at the end of the season.
Damn Razer, you bringin back some memories. I lived in Haughton when I was in the USAF. :tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye:
