Every game should be considered a trap game when you're #1. That said, we're going to beat the snot out of them.

    I relish wins over Tennessee

For some of us old enough to remember, Tennessee used to be a nemesis team for LSU. We rarely played Tennessee in the old 12 team SEC before the division setup. It wasn't until the late 80's that LSU won it's first game ever in Knoxville against Tennessee. I was an eleven year old kid in 1959 when a defending national champion LSU team went to Knoxville as a prohibitive favorite riding a 19 game winning streak. Prior to the game the feeling was about the same as this game; Tennessee would get spanked. I remember listening to that game on the radio as LSU dominated the game but kept making mistakes that kept Tennessee in the game. LSU lost that game 14-13 on a disputed call on a two point conversion attempt by Billy Cannon. After the game I remember going outside so upset that I threw up.

It has been particularly gratifying to me that in the past several years LSU has had much better success against Tennessee. I especially enjoyed the 2007 SEC championship game when Ryan Perrilloux subbed for an injured Matt Flynn to lead our "damn fine football team" into the national title game by defeating Tennessee. I love beating all of our SEC rivals, but as a long time Tiger fan I still get special pleasure in beating the Vols.

I think we'll roll this weekend but I never take any SEC opponents for granted. OK, maybe Kentucky and Vandy. :geaux:

It's a trap game, but only if the team allows it. Also, teams with strong power running games are more likely to work their way out of the trap once it starts to close. I think it will be a KY type of game.

    We need some t-shirts printed

Every tiger fan should be required to wear it in Neyland Stadium

Man, I bet you got SOCKS older than me! :D

    I kid...I kid...

You were 21 when I graced this world with my presence. Great story!

Since we so seldom play Tennessee, they don't really bother me. Working here in Knoxville all year, I haven't noticed any animosity from their end toward LSU fans, either. I wear an LSU hat every day, and although I get a little teasing, everyone is friendly about it and talks about how good LSU is and how bad we're gonna beat them this year. The only Tennessee games I really remember are the '01 SECCG, the '05 Katrina Monday Night Football debacle, and the '07 SECCG. We're 2-3 in those, and should've been 3-3. Oh, plus the one in...I guess '06...we beat em. Jamarcus Russell beat em, to be exact. So we're 3-4 in games I remember against Tennessee.

As far as Vandy and Kentucky, IMO Tennessee will be lucky to go 1-2 against those teams this season. Tennessee IS Kentucky and Vandy this year. :thumb:

I agree. I was thinking the same thing...in their house and the revenge motivation.

When Bray went out so did the chance to upset. LSU would have to really self destruct to lose this game. Can't see that. :LSU231:
