i dont think that makes him a good QB, i will give you the fact that the coaches dont put him in great situations, but he just isnt a good QB.
Amigo, we have two freshmen at quarterback. One has already made some rookie mistakes. The other one still has them in front of him. Harris has huge upside, but he is a long way from a steady and stable veteran at the position. Youth at quarterback is a HUGE factor. Departures of alternative quarterbacks is another one. We are scary thin at quarterback.
that was my point, we have no excuse really at QB, the departures are from either bad recruiting or bad philosophy, one of those departing QBs could be starting right now with the right development.
You would think that the reason AJ hasn't been given the same set of options as Harris is because they felt he hadn't learned to handle the same plays given their comparative skill levels
Non Power Conference QBs have worked out pretty well in the NFL. Terry Bradshaw-Louisiana Tech-4 Superbowls, Ben Roethlisberger-Miami of Ohio-2 Superbowls, Joe Flacco-Delaware, Trent Dilfer-Fresno State. And lets not forget Brett Favre. He was so good at Southern Mississippi that he got the LSU job for his old coach.
AJ is the lowest ranked QB in the SEC and Harris is the top ranked, having scored on 12 of his 15 possessions with no INTs unless you want to count the Hail Mary. AJ has no TDs since game 2 and the lucky pass in the Arky game was because Landry called the play, drew a triple team and AJ threw the floater...that is history. The MSU game is all on him and that NM State start with no pressure. He had a -21 Rating and 0.1 QBR. The staff (Miles) did not even recognize Harris' until 70,000 fans and all the media experts pounded him and then he still started AJ and left him in for all the world to see a young man crash and burn.
