I wonder if the amount of money changing hands in these cases is proportional to the value of the player
May not be money at all; the "victim" may have may have wanted the charges dropped for their own self interest. If the case had gone to court, the LSU players would have repeated their claim that they were re-claiming stolen property, exposing the "victim" to a set of robbery charges. Just thought of OJ Simpson who also claimed that he was trying to re-claim stolen items. I think he's still in jail.
Yes, it's good because regardless how terrible he is, he adds depth and experience. I just hope Harris gets his shit together, it's very troubling that he hasn't clearly beaten out Jennings.
I find it troubling because until now, Les was pretty much forced to start Harris, meaning he was going to get a concentrated course in QB'ing from Cam for the next month. Now, not only will the instruction and the reps be split (again), Les will be back up to his usual QB games. Jennings will start because he's the older guy, he has more experience, and he gives Les an excuse for running the ball 75% of the time. Book it.
I know they won't do it but LSU could throw on every single down and still beat the hell out of McNeese. The should try to get a 50/50 split running and passing to work on the passing game. But they won't. The offense will be as vanilla as fraternity row.
To play devils advocate, not that I agree or don't agree with what I'm about to say, your scenario (which is highly probable) also now gives detractors an excuse to blame it all on Miles. If I'm him, I'm rolling with Harris until he either gets hurt or screws up really bad, or just doesn't get it done. That way if Harris does flop, he can at least give his defenders a reason to defend him including the people that determine if he has a job or not. And I'm not saying he is on the hot seat either. Think about it, in that statement by the prosecutor or whatever he is, he says that what they did was completely wrong. Jennings should not be the starter on principle alone.
Les wanted the guys back on the team and not under charges. But I suspect they will still suffer some penalties including demotions or suspensions.
