    well, since this thread started off as libya, might as well put this here....

    seeing reports that the rebels have taken tripoli.

    i dont have a link, but i read earlier that gaddafi's security forces were either surrendering or abandoning him.

    just as in egypt, i am waiting to see what faction ultimately takes control.... younger arabs interested in democracy and freedom, or the islamic hardliners wanting another islamic state?

    I fear the first conflicts involving the new Libya will be tribal rivalries as in Iraq and Afghanistan. We see all Arabs as monolithic, but they are not so by a long shot.

    Egypt is much different. In Egypt the army has always been in charge and they still are. They have to transition from an army fronted by a strongman into an army fronted by a national council, congress, or parliament.
