Everybody needs to watch this: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLY19PnY2m8]YouTube - Sen. Rand Paul Takes Senate Floor and Speaks on Libya[/ame]
well, since this thread started off as libya, might as well put this here.... seeing reports that the rebels have taken tripoli. BBC News - Libya conflict i dont have a link, but i read earlier that gaddafi's security forces were either surrendering or abandoning him. just as in egypt, i am waiting to see what faction ultimately takes control.... younger arabs interested in democracy and freedom, or the islamic hardliners wanting another islamic state?
I fear the first conflicts involving the new Libya will be tribal rivalries as in Iraq and Afghanistan. We see all Arabs as monolithic, but they are not so by a long shot. Egypt is much different. In Egypt the army has always been in charge and they still are. They have to transition from an army fronted by a strongman into an army fronted by a national council, congress, or parliament.
