Usama Young had the surgery today, the 6th Saint in 2 years to suffer a sports hernia. Who's the strength/conditioning coach, and what is he making these guys do? On the bright side, Jabari Greer practiced (limited) today.
Today's update....looks like we'll get Ellis, Shockey and Bush back this week, and Greer's on track, but man, we're beat up: New Orleans Saints injury roundup for Dec. 23 | New Orleans Saints Central - - NOLA.com If Sharper has to sit one out, who'll start at FS with Young also out? Reis? Jenkins?
It's been my biggest worry all year. That defense has been good but they are thin in the ass. They don't have the optimal size and strength that a top defense needs. The scheme is awesome.
I am pretty sure Sharper is playing Sunday. They will sit him for Carolina maybe if his knee is ailing too badly, but I doubt this week. Young should be back in time for the playoffs as he actually had the surgery last week and that would put him right at the 4 1/2 week mark going into that weekend of play.
The problems go way deeper than just Greer. The offense isn't clicking, they are getting away from the balance they had earlier in the season. Smith and Grant are playing horribly, Shanle and Fujita aren't that great. Vilma and Sharper can't do everything.
We'll see what we look like with our starting 11 back in the lineup on defense for the first time since forever this Sunday vs Carolina.
