Not going to work. Big difference in running that crap in the sEC and running it against ND. The kid has pretty good passing skills, Shepard does not. Crowton has no idea what he wants to do, that is your first mistake. Once you figure out Crowton, which is not much, you start to see the light.
Dude, firing Crowton isn't going to do a damn thing either. I don't think Crowton is a good OC but I also think that a lot of his problems are more symptomatic of JJ issues. If JJ can't execute, holds on to the ball too long, is indecisive, and so forth....How much can the OC do? Eliminating the other contributors (penalties, turnovers) will help but we are an undisciplined team and we have been for years. Didn't we lead the SEC or the Nation for that matter in penalty yards a season or two ago? That's been our rep and I don't think it is going to get better all of the sudden.
Good luck I really hope for you the best on that. I for one am expecting Lamb 2 Lions (might have to be changed to Lamb2Gator) play in the next 3-4 weeks. Hope I am wrong for Lee's sake.
I just don't get this Lamb2Lions analogy. I've played football and I've coached football for more years than I want to say and it never occured to me that if I needed to play another kid that I was throwing him to the lions. Spurrier yanked his starter Saturday in Auburn with the game within reach and put in a true freshman. The kid almost pulled it off and I think it was the right move....the freshman had an opportunity to gain valuable experience and compete and it gave Garcia something to think about and both will be better QB's because of it. For JL's sake, I'm sure he would welcome being put in the game at ANYTIME, he's not in uniform because he thinks he looks good in gold. I've read a lot of your posts and I understand that you want Crowton gone.....okay, but it appears that in your mind there is no other possible solution....I disagree.
Yes, when you give the other guy the majority of snaps in practice, talk for 2 years about how the other guy is improving, play the other guy against the lesser quality competition, then in a panic when you(if you were the coach) finally after years realize the OBVIOUS put the other guy that has already had the fans against him in a position where he is down 10-14 points and in a terrible position with an incompetent OC that can't do crap... you don't see anything wrong with that? Yes, that is throwing a lamb to the lions. Its putting a player in a position to FAIL. People do it all the time, it's life but no it is not right. Lee has every freaking right to tell that coach to F-off in that situation. IMHO I would be so with the player on this.
Interesting choice of words. Was JJ "given" the majority of snaps in practice or did he earn the right to practice with the first team? Let's just disagree on this. I highly doubt that JL sees it the way you describe anyway because if he did, then he would probably leave the team. There is absolutely no reason for him to work hard in practice and put on the pads every Saturday just waiting for the chance to tell Miles to F off....that is freaking funny.
Apparently not if the coach is second guessing his choice. If JJ won the job their would be no reason to run Lamb2Lion. We're not talking about an injury. We are talking about throwing him to the Lions with free will choice. Do you know what Lee had to put up with to stay at LSU? You apparently don't know how the fans were treating him. Oh, then when the other guy is not doing so well, you throw him back in like that. It's going to happen, you can almost feel it.... this is like a movie where you have already guessed the ending. LOW CLASS comes to mind. I doubt he would either, but I would not blame him for doing so. Lee is a stand up guy. I can't even imagine the crap he has put up with.
I know a lot of fans are clamoring for Lee, but that's got disaster written all over it. Not sure I want the kid to relive that again. You'd have to have a sports psychologist ready on the sidelines for the Florida game in the Swamp.
