he is closer to the source than any of us. JL is not starting FOR A REASON, whatever that reason is, boils down to the fact that JJ is obviously better at the QB position. You dont get to watch practice just like everybody else. Say what you want about CLM but if JL was CLEARLY without a doubt better than JJ there would be no questions who our starting QB was when we opened up against UNC. JJ beat him out this summer & obviously even with JJ's poor play, JL hasnt done ENOUGH in practice for the coaches to trust him back there on gameday LIVE WITH IT!
Nope...completely disagree. The point is this, even if Lee looks like chit in practice, Jefferson looks like chit in the game, so at least give Lee another chance in the game, maybe he plays better. Now that Jefferson is throwing picks and sucking, Lee can only do worst with pick sixes. You would think the odds of more are way to high (hear me football gods), and/or he has worked on his open field tackling after throwing (joke). The point is regardless of practice skills....we need someone to spark us in the game, and I will say Lee is a better raw passer, period. Also we would not see the option with him, which is a huge plus to me. To quote the great AI: "Practice, we're talking about practice?"
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Aside from his picks, Lee was quite productive in 2008. In fact, he was the last LSU QB to throw for 300yds (vs Moo U that year). I think he even had the best frosh campaign at LSU since Hodson. However, the horrible, horrible defense constantly put him in a deep hole, and he probably forced many passes that he shouldn't have thrown. Put this years defense on the '08 team, and our record suddenly gets a lot better. That was the last time that we moved the ball with any consistency whatsoever. This defense can absorb a little recklessness. We just need someone to fling it around. The payoff will offset the negatives.
I am not the one deciding who gets the start, I am not agreeing or dis-agreeing with the choice to go with JJ. But I will accept it, Lee may be better off, however, I truly believe that if he were, he would get the start, and would have gotten the start by now. There is obviously something that is holding the coaches back from pulling the trigger, we just dont know what it is. We can assume its CLM not wanting to admit he was wrong We can assume Lee is playing worse in practice Point is, none of us know, we can only live with what the coaches decide to do and trust their call
Good point, your right, that defense sucked. So much for two heads are better than one. Glad we agree, Lee will start Sat vs UT, glad we finally got that cleared up. Now, lets get this Economy going and I can call it a day.
You give way too much credibility to this coaching staff. It's the same coaching staff that brought in Mr. Harvard and the same coaching staff that recruited Jefferson. Jefferson is the man Crowton wanted. Mr. Harvard is the man Crowton wanted. The same coaching staff you say knows best about the present QB situation is the same coaching staff that thought Mr. Harvard could make it in the SEC. This is not a QB problem, it is a coaching and play-calling problem. The whole offense is a mess and has been a mess FOR YEARS, and unless you get Crowton out of there, it will continue to be so. No, it's not going to help by putting Lee in there, maybe a short-term boost but it will go back to the same ole crap. Throwing QBs down the trash bin is not going to solve the actual problem, nor is saying "I trust the coaching staff". THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH PLAYERS LSU HAS ON THE OFFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL.
I agree 100% with you there, it is in CLM's hands and we don't know for sure why he has not pulled the trigger. However, the way JJ is playing I am going with the assumption that JJ has pics of CLM doing something unsavory. I am happy we are winning and love watching the defense and special teams. I just want them to try something different...cant hurt. There is a possibility he is being stubborn, but it is also possible Lee looks awful at practice. Problem is he continues to praise Lee, so it makes people (myself included) to believe it's the first one.
AND WHAT am I giving them credit for? Playing a chitty QB over a more chitty QB I didn’t say JJ or JL were good QB's, I didn’t say they were smart recruits, All I said is that I will support their call. If they go with JJ, they have their reasons, I have seen enough of Lee & enough of JJ to give my opinion (WHICH DOESNT MEAN JACK, AND NEITHER DOES YOURS) - But I have seen enough of both of these 2 to tell you my opinion is I don’t want either one of them back there. BUT - As a fan, I will support which ever put back there. That doesn’t mean I am not frustrated, that doesn’t mean I don’t shake my head in disappointment that this years roster full of amazing talent may more than likely be wasted because our program CANT develop a QB.
