He hits a line drive off the pitchers head and the pitcher goes flat on his stomach so there is no doubt something isn't right with that picture, Where does A-rod end up at? 2nd base Wow. That reminds of the yanks red sox playoffs a few years back where he hits the ball out of the first baseman's glove by swiping at it while crossing the first base bag.
The ball ricocheted into the outfield gap. What is he supposed to do? It's his job to win, not babysit the pitcher. When a ball player goes down in basketball, the other team has to score on the 5-4 fastbreak, right? If a CB blows out his leg jamming the WR, does the WR stop? Heck no, he drives by and scores a TD. He stood around the pitcher after the play to see if he was ok. He immediately went down to a knee and prayed for the guy. I'm not a fan of A-Rod, but I don't fault this one.
You look for excuses to hate A Rod. Dude's paid to generate runs for the Yankees. He's not the Indians' trainer. Suppose he runs straight to the mound and the fielder throws to 1st for the out. Would you hate the fielder and the 1st baseman?
i'm prolly the biggest A-rod/Yankee hater on this board. only thing I can blame him for is not hustling enough to get to 3rd.
didn't see the play, but if possible, i would taken a wide turn around 2nd and forced a throw as well.
yeah i mean thats baseball, i know when i played and when i coach, i always did this and told the kids to finish the play, then worry about your injury, now obviously this dude was drummed, but on the offensive side, finish the play then worry about the dude.
the guys on BBTN said it well: nothing he could have done in the 3-4 seconds he took to get from first to second base could have helped the guy either be hurt or not be hurt.
Why blame A-rod for running the bases? Why not blame him for hitting the ball? Or for even showing up at the ballpark to play baseball?
