from a Florida paper no less. "By now, you know Meeks, who gained instant celebrity last week when he torched Tennessee for a school-record 54 points. ESPN, the network fortunate enough to televise his monumental effort, spent the better parts of two days riding Meeks’ hot hand and listing his feat among the five best scoring performances in SEC history ... during “the last 35 years” anyway. ...certainly the network would’ve been expected to clue us in on the fact that Pistol Pete surpassed 50 points in a game a total of 28 times during his incredible career at LSU, rendering the Gerald Glass-Jodie Meeks graphic quite lame." http://www.ocala.com/article/20090121/COLUMNISTS/901210993/1005/SPORTS01?Title=ESPN_laziness_evident_in_Maravich_snub
Why let the facts get int he way of a good story. You can't honestly say that this surprises you? ESPN like so many in the media today try to rewrite history to fit their agenda.
the article comments on that. supposedly dale reviewed pete's games and said he'd average 10-13 more pts. i find it hard to believe that half of his made shots were from that far away.
espn is about 30 percent facts, and the other 70 percent is opinion. i dont need any more reason to despise their sports monopoly.
It's not like ESPN is a public service. The constant complaining gets old. Let them run what they want--it's entertainment.
