I was looking at Buckeyeplanet at their thread they had at the beginning of the season predicting how they would do. Everybody was worried about possible losses to Michigan, Wisconsin, and Penn State. No one was worried about Illinois or Mich State.

As for Wisconsin's "sux" rating, yeah, I really would like to believe that Wisconsin sucks, but they were 9-3 in 2004, 10-3 in 2005, 12-1 in 2006, and 9-3 this year. In their last three bowls games, they have played SEC teams. In 2004, they almost beat Georgia (21-24), then they beat Auburn (24-10), and then they almost beat Arkansas (14-17). Wisconsin has shown they can hang with SEC teams.

As for Michigan's "sux" rating, their offense is one of the most star-studded in the country. I don't know what their problem was this year, but if they get their team chemistry back together over the break, they should be able to give Florida a good fight. Coach Carr has been a coach there for like 30 years (HC, DC, etc) and this is last game. And this will be the last time that star seniors Hart, Henne, Long, and Crable will be wearing a Michigan jersey (maybe Manningham as well if he goes pro). I'll be disappointed if Michigan doesn't put up a good game.

That's the biggest advantage that we have, IMO. Seems like every single game this year had that 'big game' atmosphere, was on national TV, played against a team playing the game of their lives, incredibly high stakes, etc. And most of them turned out to be absolute hearstoppers. If there's one thing this team has, it's character. And I expect them to handle the pressure and spotlight of the NC game extremely well. Hell, it'll just seem like another week in the SEC as far as they're concerned.

Definitely true in LSU's case. the 02 buckeyes won a lot of games the same way (7? games won in true heart attack fashion, think Virginia this year, only they somehow managed to win them all, though i'm still not sure how:D ), don't think that they had as much media attention until later in the year.

Overall quality of competition rings loud here. I tried to take a common sense approach to all this John. Their schedule was less than stellar this year, Here it is...

    Wash. St. Win 42-21
    at UNLV Win 20-13
    The Citadel Win 45-31
    Iowa Win 17-13
    Michigan State Win 37-34
    at Illinois Loss 31-26
    at Penn State Loss 38-7
    Northern Illinois Win 44-3
    Indiana W Win 33-3
    at Ohio State Loss 38-17
    Michigan Win 37-21
    at Minnesota Win 41-34

Here again my "sux" theory applies, the majority of the teams they've played this year have been sucky ones...the "good" or "very good" teams they lost to. I appreciate what you said about them in years past, but thats just it "years past". They get Tenn in their bowl this year, my monies on the Vols to take that one. One more little way to measure this, take say Ole Miss, and be honest now, how well do you think they would have done with this same schedule?

As far as Mich concerned, I actually like the Wolverines, if for no other reason, I've always thought they had cool helmets. Sorry, but Mich is on the "sucky" list this year. For whatever problem they have this season (apparently theres a multitude of them), they're down. So you take them and toss them into a bowl (sorry little word play there), against UF, which is arguably still one of the best teams in the country, and for all intents and purposes are playing a home game. This could get very ugly for the Wolverines!

Well, I wouldn't go that far, C'mon now...lets get real. I never said anywhere in this post that the Tigers would "crush" OSU. The Buckeyes are a good team, the whole point of this exercise was to show that the Tigers quality of competition was at a much higher level than that of OSU. Those things tend to make you better. The Tigers "should" win this ballgame. I'd be happy if it were only by a point as long as its a win, but honestly I think it will be more, If it "does" turn into a blowout game, it will not surprise me. The pluses and minuses are all in place for that very thing to happen.
