Hit "reply" to a post and it will drop into the reply window . . . but before you hit the "Post Reply" button you can go to another post and hit "reply" and it will drop into the same reply window. Then you can answer both and hit "Post Reply".

Style points in the manor of beating everyone LSU beat by the same margin along with style points in losing to #1 LSU in OT by 3.....

    Style points brother..

Point being, style, swager, and POINTS sells tickets and gets you MEDIA/National buzz..

As bad ass as our D was last year, the O will still talk of the town..

    Style points matter..

Nope, if we would have beat Bama like a drum it would be a different tune right now...

Bama was the ONLY team last year to stand up to use.......

    For the Athletic Departments, yes.

We have to also take into account what our University Presidents are considering as well: that being local economies.

The last time I recall seeing the economic impact on SEC college towns was at least five years ago, maybe more. I recall the games listed were small games, as in OOC, and the number was something like 3.2MM. We weren't in the same economic situation then as we are now so I'm sure that it weighs more heavily on their minds today.

Do you really think we were going to do that in Tuscaloosa? Okie State had the computers. Bama had the voters. Maybe I'm wrong and Nick just so happened to appear on GameDay the week of the SECCG to talk about the weather. Maybe chat about old times.

Its not about what I think..

    Its about what i said.

If we would have beaten the piss out of Bama, we would have played OSU..

Its not that hard to understand why Bama got a rematch..

Here is where I see your assertions falling apart.

In week 12 of 15 weeks of polls, the rankings had LSU, Okie State, and then Bama. Okie State held their own destiny in its hands but lost to an un-ranked Iowa State. IF a team, ranked at #2, loses a game do they fall in the polls? It's more than a given, it's a certainty.

That leaves weeks 13, 14, and 15 with LSU at #1, Bama at #2. Sure, there were discussions about who should play in the BCSNC. But, for three weeks that decision was already made. It had nothing to do with Saban on Gameday, some PR machine at work, or anything of the like.

I do believe that an LSU vs Okie State game would have been a good game to watch: for a half, maybe. Gundy's notion that the match-up would have featured two teams scoring in the 40's? Absurd.

On a side, and somewhat ironic, note: The last week Okie State was ranked at #2 they beat Texas Tech 66-6. "Da debil kep' 'em out."

Bullshit. He knew damn well most of the country wouldn't want an all-SEC BCS Championship game, so he did what he had to do to ENSURE his team got in, no matter what any other teams did in their respective conference championship games, which was go on national tv and him and ESPN had a 69 fest with each other.

I'll bet his metaphorical tonsils still hurt from said suckfest.

Then maybe you can explain how Florida miraculously jumped both Michigan and USC in the AP and Coaches' polls after the SECCG to get an NC shot in 2006, after they trailed Michigan throughout the year. Just a hunch, but it may have had something to do with Urban Meyer publicly arguing that a team that didn't win its conference didn't belong in the title game.

Saban on GameDay was an insurance policy. Gary Danielson and ESPN talking heads had been going around for a week prior to Bedlam saying that game didn't matter and Bama should be booked for the NCG. The idea that PR never factored into the rematch is ridiculous. All I'm saying is Nick knew how to play the political game and Gundy didn't. Nothing wrong with that, but please don't insult my intelligence by suggesting otherwise.
