Good point, plus people forget to realize these players' ages, and they're playing COLLEGE football. They're not called STUDENT athletes for nothing. These guys still have classes to attend.

So why are we playing 12 games? Oh yeah, 3 OOC games against the sisters of the poor, just ain't enough. I would be happy to trade our Western Kentucky, for a shot in the big tournament. If you go to a 16 team format, I'll even throw in our Florida Atlantic. No sacrifice is too great.

Everyone needs tune-up games, even your red shirt-wearing elephants. :p

    Seriously?

Your trade of Western Kentucky for a shot at a tournament might sit well with you from a fans perspective.

From a business perspective tell me how you are going to replace the revenue generated from that one game?

Remember, this isn't all about the bottom dollar for the Athletic Departments.

Joe Alleva, and the city of Baton Rouge, are loving your eight home games this year.

If I knew how to combine two posts in one reply...

Point is, it's not so much about warm-up games as it is revenue...talking to you and Tusk at the same time.

Mea culpa on the confusion. I would be as well now that I've re-read the exchange.

    Busy watching golf...

    Hey, what about this?

Make everyone actually play a true conference championship game. One division in each conference. That should save some wear and tear. Top two teams play.Period

Last season, here is how a few conference champions would have looked:

Alabama vs LSU - SEC champ, (sorry, no 4th place Georgia)
Standford vs Oregon - (sorry, no 6 and 6 UCLA)

Just think, if we had a true conference playoff, coach Saban and coach Miles wouldn't have to keep insisting on getting the two best teams, in the same division, to the big dance. But when "tits on a bull" won't give milk, you just have to get that calcium fix some other way.

My point is that if attrition is what is creating a 8 or 16 team, playoff dilemma, there are ways to be much more efficient with these extra playoff games. Even at our 12 game schedule, make our CCG a true playoff. Now you have ONE representative from each conference to consider. Even with the 4 game format, we are not just creating needless attrition, while everyone is trying to impress their favorite BCS computers and voters.

Yeah, I thought about the extra game(s). No doubt, it's a LOT of football for college kids. I'd say the only way around it is to cut back on the OOC games but, as others have pointed out, that cuts into a school's revenue.

On the other hand, might that lack of revenue be made up by the additional TV money that would come in because of the "extra" games?
