In looking at other facts that came to light this morning, I think the officer's resignation didn't need to happen, nor did the entire event. "A Texas police officer had answered back-to-back suicide calls and was fraught with emotion when he responded to a report of a fight at a pool party.... Casebolt's first call that day was to an apartment complex where a man had fatally shot himself in front of his wife and children, Bishkin said. The former officer of the year, who resigned Tuesday, then went to a home where a teenager was threatening to kill herself by jumping from the roof of her parents' home. "Eric's compassion during these two incidents is a testament to his character," Bishkin said, acknowledging that they had taken an "emotional toll" and made him reluctant to respond to the pool party. Ultimately, he did after hearing a violent assault had occurred, she said." Other potentially important facts: She was 15, not 14, the video did not show that he also detained a while female teenager. He's resigned, left town due to death threats, and a good career has been completely derailed. The teen and her lawyer aren't having any of it though. They want him prosecuted and I'm sure they will file a civil rights lawsuit. Perhaps there should be a policy in place that addresses a mandatory "breather" for officers after they have been in very high stress situations. He'd been on 2 suicide calls. He probably either shouldn't have been allowed to go on another civil disturbance type of call (they knew of the violence potential by the initial call), or clearly shouldn't have been the one to make his own decision. I don't know, it all seems a big waste. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/la...on-texas-officer/ar-BBkWgDU?ocid=ansEonline11
Alleging what? The guy should have been disciplined for improper conduct. But the girl wasn't hurt. He used no racial epithets. You can't just make a civil rights case because one person is white and the other black.
You are right and I posted this earlier, but the sequence of events that started the fight arent being brought to light and is on camera. The lady who started the fight has been suspended from her job after they saw what she did and how violent she acted against the party goers. And it doesnt matter if she is a year older. What happened still happened and why resign or apologize if he didnt feel he was out of hand as the police chief said as well. The whole situation could have been avoided.
