    austin jackson no-hits Tampa

    8 walks, 149 pitches

2nd time Tampa has been no hit this year (3 of last 5 no-hitters have been against the Rays)

the frequency of Tampa getting no-hit got me to do some stat searching.

the Rays came into the league in 1998. they've been no-hit 4 times since then ('02, '09, '10, '10), more than any other team.

the opposite end of that spectrum is the Cubs.
they've gotten at least 1 hit in every single game since Koufax threw a perfecto against them in 1965.

Tampa has never thrown a no-hitter, but they'll have to go a long time before catching the teams with the longest droughts.
No Padre has ever thrown a no-hitter (joined MLB in '69)
No Met has thrown one (formed in '62)

6 former Mets threw no hitters after leaving the team :hihi: (sorry martin)
Hideo Nomo threw one before joining the Mets, and another one after leaving them.

Longest streak ever without a no-hitter belongs to the Philles (57 years)

    Most no-hitters thrown all-time:
    AL: Red Sox (19)
    NL: Dodgers (20)

    Most time being no-hit:
    AL: White Sox & A's (14)
    NL: Braves & Phillies (17)

4 no-hitters thrown so far this year (shoulda been 5), and we're not to the halfway point.
most ever in a season was 6 in 1990

Rays in second -- soon to be third place in the division -- where talent says they belong.

The easy part of their schedule is adios, and all of a sudden no more 1-5 pitching rotation updates from our Rays bandwagoner here.

    statistical anomaly

no-hitters are such flukey things, that we may not see one again for a couple years.
or we might see 2 this week.

Matt Garza just finished no-hitting Detroit.

    1st no-no in Tampa history

werent there 3 perfect games thrown this year (im counting galarragas) and 2 in the same month. theres only been like 20 total ever.

id say thats more than an anomaly. id say going on 4 or 5 yrs with almost no roids and/or hgh play a part in that.

    edwin jacksons didnt count?

wasn't there a chit load of no-hitters in the early 90s?
not sure how many (if any were perfect), but I seem to remember several in a short span back then.

only if you thrown in the 2 perfectos against them in less than 12 months too.
