what's this barry In his speech to the National Urban League, Obama was to announce that he will sign an executive order on Thursday that aims to improve education for African-American students. Its goal is "a more effective continuum" of programs to prepare students for high school, college and career, the White House said http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2018771729_apusobama3rdldwritethru.html
hmmmmm perhaps announce an executive order to improve educations for students, period......not just African American sudents. They have enough benefit programs in place already, does he really need to start another one? If he does lets be sure and tax the working American for it.............or an announcement that he's resigning today and giving the country back to the people, that wouldn't suck....just sayin.
I see nothing wrong with it and I'd go so far as to say that it's needed. There is a culture in the black community of children being raised in a fatherless home. When this happens, the single mother, often with several children, looks to the govt. for help and it costs all of us money. To break this cycle and some of the other disturbing trends in the black community, they must be educated out of it. If the children are educated and go on to continue their education, they are much more likely to break the cycle, thus saving taxpayers lots of money. So, if you try to fix it on the front-end, the idea is that it will cut down on govt spending/assistance on the back end when these children are likely to grow up and repeat the cycle. It's also worth mentioning that he was out stumping to the National Urban League in a campaign year. It doesn't sound like a huge project that he's dumping billions into, but it does sound like something that the thought the National Urban League would like to hear which is what all candidates do when they are out fishing for votes. It's not really a big deal either way.
Fatherless home? That exist everywhere, I know first hand that it's not racial specific....done with that. For me it all sounds like another affirmative action clause, call it what you will, dress it up, smokescreen it, camouflage it, whatever you will at the end of the day it's beneficially racial specific. When you take other races tax dollars and fund something to someone else who could potentially get preferential treatment when it comes time to get a job I got a problem with it. Basically it's saying you owe something to educate them, change their culture oh and by the way once you've done that if all is equal or not even equal, they get the job you both applied for and you don't. It comes off, to me, as racial payback. You don't see this policy in the sports world? Maybe Obama could be the next NFL commissioner get us a few more white/hispanic/asian tailbacks..........Maybe start a program helping white guys run faster and jump higher...... I know it's cliche, but 200 years is plenty of time to get your act together, I mean look at their ancestors back home how well they've done......well maybe not. I aint hating on black people, I firmly believe in equality for all and that some people do truly need help, but that isn't racially specific either. We just all can't be Chief's we need some Indians out there too. I'm tellin ya people, if it keeps going this way I'm headed to New Zealand and I'm taking the SEC with me
People are going to be unhappy no matter what. If you try to fix it on the front end, people will bitch. If you you help the single moms with food stamps, people will bitch. If you do nothing and these people turn to crime to survive, people will bitch. I took a criminology class at Tulane and we studied this. I learned alot and my views have changed. I'm not going to try to give a Criminology course on TF, though. I'm headed back to the Roundtable.
Without reading the link or knowing much about the program, I thought the comments by Cajun Sensation make sense. Nobody wants to give free handouts to those that are able to work. Everyone complains but never offer a viable solution. Just stop giving handouts cold turkey and hope violent crime doesn't increase too bad? Tell everyone to just go get a job if they want to eat and have shelter? At present, I think there is a large and growing segment that is unable to find or hold a job. At least this somewhat makes sense to train the uneducated in some sort of discipline so that we can gradually get them to be productive.
its explicitly racist and totally unacceptable, and in fact i would argue that it is unconstitutional.
