    Pepperdine is one of the traditional west coast powerhouses, but despite early big wins against UC-Irvine and CS Fullerton, they dropped a horrible series against very lowly CS-Northridge (how lowly? the games were at Northridge and one was almost called for darkness). Offensively look out for 2B [FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]Joe Sever [/FONT]who is batting a [FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif].438 average with 14 hits and three doubles.[/FONT]

    Meanwhile, it can't be said how much Ole Miss needs to not lose this game. At this point, knocking them out of the tourney is an admirable goal. And Taz really need some playing time if he's going to beat 2,000.

    FYI...from the LSU ticket office:


    Top-ranked LSU will play host to a three-team, six-game series beginning Thursday in Alex Box Stadium.

    The series begins at 6:30 p.m. CT Thursday when the Tigers meet the Pepperdine Waves of the West Coast Conference. On Friday, Pepperdine will face the Brown Bears of the Ivy League at 2 p.m. before LSU takes on Brown at 7 p.m.

    The action continues on Saturday with another Brown-Pepperdine matchup at 2 p.m., followed by an LSU-Pepperdine meeting at 7 p.m.

    The series concludes at noon on Sunday when the Tigers face Brown for the second time.

    Fans will be admitted free to the Brown-Pepperdine games on both Friday and Saturday, and concessions will be available during those games. The stadium will be cleared at the conclusion of each Brown-Pepperdine game.

    Fans are advised that parking permits are still required in order to park in reserved lots for the two Brown-Pepperdine games.

    Bottom of the 1st. Watkins struck out. Nola walked. Dean struck out. Gibbs takes the plate. Ball. Strike one. Strike two. 4th pitch on the way... and Nola tries to steal second... and Gibbs singles to right field! They wave Nola home and he scores!! (Run #1 for LSU). Hanover singles. Landry grounds out to 2B to end the inning.

    Currently 51 degrees in Baton Rouge... supposed to drop 1-2 degrees as each hour goes by now that the sun has set. Supposed to be in the upper 40s soon.

    Top of the 2nd... The first Malibu boy up hits the first pitch out of the park for a solo home run (Run #1 for the Malibu boys). Groundout to Matulis, popout to Mahtook. 2 outs. Single. Runner on 1st tries to steal 2nd, and Gibbs guns him down to end the inning!
