Since JJ seems content on a 7-10 step drop to throw any pass... why can't we just line him up in the shotgun everytime... allowing him to take 2 steps then release.
It should help him not only throw a quicker release, but at the same time, allow him enough time that if the patterns aren't there... he can tuck and run or throw a short screen to TH, KW or Scott and pick up 5 yard gain 3/5 times. Wouldn't this seem to help him with time in the pocket?

I would tend to agree... unfortunately that is one area that really can't be coached. He has a huge mechanic to throwing.... ie Aaron Brooks, Jason Campbell, I would say even Vince Young.

Things that can be coached or improved:
1.) less of a drop back
2.) step up in the pocket
    3.) go through WR progression
4.) look up field when stepping up or running
    5.) don't panic
6.) improve his option running, which went from ok to horrible

    Things that can't be coached:
    - Huge mechanic windup.

The huge windup hurts his overall potential. He's got a gun, but the gun takes way too long to go off when you pull the trigger, which is why you see the ball way too later to the WRS... he throws hard but it takes so long to get out there it might as well be a duck.
