Another Brady gem..this time dissing the LSU football team

That's a little strongly worded, don't you think? I don't "hate" John Brady, but I think his time as LSU basketball coach is probably (rightfully) about up.

 

I don't know stacey, you know how hateful andf negative you can be about life and lsu in general!

Why don't you try a more positive attitude!!

I listened to it. Brady is saying that he doesn't think SoS is the answer to the RPI. He thinks teams should schedule with winning in mind leading up their conference schedules - conference being the main thing. (I think we all agree with that last bit.)

Unfortunately, he then uses the football team to prove his point, saying they don't want to play anyone in the beginning of the season. They'd rather play a bunch of nobodys leading up to the SEC schedule. Of course, in one respect, he's partially vindicated. LSU will never schedule USC, Ohio State, Oregon, and Missouri leading up to the SEC schedule. We will always schedule three or four teams like Tulane or Troy or Middle Tennessee.

But in the larger context, Brady misses the mark by insisting that the football team doesn't want to be tested at all - which of course we know is incorrect. Most seasons, LSU football plays at least one OOC game against a "quality" BCS team. Since these are mostly scheduled years in advance, it's tough to guarantee the "quality". Last year was possibly the strongest example in a while.

2006: UL-Lafayette, Arizona, Tulane, Fresno St
2005: Ariz State (#15), North Texas, Appalachian State
2004: Oregon State, Arkansas State, Troy
2003: UL-Monroe, Arizona, Western-Illinois, Louisiana Tech
2002: Virginia Tech (#16), The Citadel, Miami (OH), UL-Lafayette

Bottom line: Brady was giving his opinion on a valid question, but since he's a tool - he sounded like a tool. It is what it is. He wasn't slamming the football team - he was just being an arse, which seems to come natural.

You have to also consider that you can't compare football to basketball when you look at the top programs in the country.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to me that scheduling basketball programs versus football programs are more of a slam dunk meaning you have a better idea of what your going to get?

Bottomline though, Brady will be Brady meaning making an arse out of himself and that is one reason he is in the hot water that he is in!

I have heard Brady myself whine about depth and lack of a PG, about sanctions. The sanctions were done in 2 years and no PG and depth are a direct reflection of Brady's management. It's whining. With me and the rest of the fans, just win and everyone will shut up.

Brady you are going to fired at the end of the year so take your $1 mil salary and go buy a camp in McComb and coach HS ball where you belong. Case closed.
