I've yet to have someone justify the Alleva hate to me. The past couple years Miles' stock has been declining. I doubt he'll be fired, but another mediocre year equals hot seat. Don't gloss over Miles faults because you're scared to make a change. Carr, Fulmer, and M Brown left their programs in a lurch because of folks being scared of change. Define winning and losing for LSU. I don't call 8-5 winning. I don't call our QB play innovative. Not calling for Miles' head, but if Hawthorne ends his career saying "MY-OH-MY" as much as he did last year, I think your boy's biscuits are burning.
I'm a positive thinker, and I think it's more likely that we'll see another 2011 season before we see the doom and gloom predictions on this thread. About every 4 years, CLMs teams step up. He's due. While I loathe his conservative offense, and specifically the way the QB position is managed, his overall conservative style is a winning one. With good D, STs, and an average offense, a 2011-esque season is within reach again. Maybe w/CCC as an OC, it would have a different ending?
I haven't seen doom and gloom. All I've seen is people predict status quo. Another 8 or 9 win season with about 4 of those wins that could have been a coin flip, Leonard Fournette running roughshod over the McNeeses, and ULM's of the world, maybe even Syracuse, and a few lower tier SEC teams, but being stoned against the top tier, our quarterbacks looking like they have been forced to order off a menu that's written in mandarin, with good defensive play that keeps games a lot closer than they should be. All in all i think we lose 3 but probably go into the bowl game 6-5 with losses to Auburn, South Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and A&M, edging out Mississippi State for the coveted cellar dweller spot in the West. All 6 of those games could go either way though, I'm just saying the way it's progressively been worse every year since 2011, that's how we are trending.
Roller coaster, it started off better than average then great, then declined, progressively got better largely because of the greatest defenses we have ever seen, then a phenomenal 2011 save a putrid Jeffersonian offense, then a steady decline since.
Overall wins: 10, 10, 11, 7, 9, 10 SEC wins: 7, 6, 6, 3, 5, 6 Other than the dip during year of Malveto, the trend was consistently high. Since 2011, Overall wins: 10, 9, 8 SEC wins: 6, 5, 4 Clearly the trend is down. Other 8-4, 7-5 season should and will put on Miles on the hot seat. Nine wins should keep the heat off as long as the offense shows some semblance of competence and balance.
8-5 is a real nice season for directional whomever, with the talent that they put on the field. It does not spell success when you are flooding the NFL with quality players.
