Comparative SEC wins over the past 10 years: Alabama 61 LSU 57 Georgia 54 Florida 53 Auburn 46 USC 44 Arkansas 34 Tenn 31 Miss St. 30 Ole Miss 24 Vandy 22 Kentucky 20 SEC wins since the magical 2011 season: Alabama 21 Georgia 18 MIssouri 16 LSU 15 USC 15 Florida 14 Miss St. 13 Aggies 13 Auburn 11 Ole Miss 11 Vandy 9 Tennessee 6 Arkansas 4 Kentucky 2 LSU has finished first or tied for first in the SEC West 4 times under Miles: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2011. It's not like we have been bottom dwellers but the trend is definitely down over the past 3 years. It begs the question of why the media has been so positive about A&M, Auburn, and Miss St while being dismissive of LSU. One reason is that the media loves a flashy offense. Case in point, the 2011 regular season titan battle between LSU and Alabama was one of the best games I've ever seen but the media dismisses a great defensive battle as boring. Another reason is how the teams are trending. Arkansas, Tennessee, Miss St., Ole Miss are trending up so they are generating excitement and positive press even though they still haven't accomplished much on the field. LSU is trending down therefore getting tepid if not negative media response. I still think Les can turn it around but he will deservedly be on the hot seat if the trend continues.
Joe Dean never hired the best coach available, he hired the best bargain basement coach he could find. His philosophy was not to even bother contacting coaches at big schools because they already had good jobs.
I was a little surprised you didn't know. The sport returned to BR a little over a year ago. This past season UA played ACHA D3. The team is moving the ACHA D1 for next season with a few of the NCAA D1 teams on the schedule. At this pace I suspect they'll be moving to NCAA level of play in the next few seasons. Arkansas is making the move up next season as well.
Maybe hockey was a bad example. What we should do is have NCAA stock car racing. "I just want to thank my teammates for the way they got every ounce of speed out of the LSU Fightin' Tiger Boudreaux's Butt Paste/Tony Chacherie's Cajun Seasoning Chevrolet.
You sound like a wife who has been beaten but thinks that she will never find another man who loves her... If she is hot, he will come.
